"Kigali Tour and Genocide Memorial Visit review"

Based at Kigali Serena Hotel on 27 Aug 2023
"Our Kigali tour was heart wrenching at times but it's so important to show the history of the country.

Kigali and Rwanda in general has defied the odds and transformed itself in a success story.

It's natural beauty, warm and welcoming people and commitment to sustainability are amazing.

I don't think we saw a single piece of litter during our stay." Read more about this whole safari

"Glad we went to to the memorial but a heartbreaking place.

We went at the end of our trip and I think we were better to understand than if we went at the beginning" Read more about this whole safari

"The Genocide Memorial is a sad yet hopeful. It is heartbreaking to see the images and artifacts of the victims of the genocide, yet the Memorial is beautiful. It is remarkable that the atrocities were less than 30 years ago considering how far Rwanda has come. Although it was difficult learning so much about this tragic past, it is very important to the Rwandans that they share this history and pay respect to those victims. It is certainly a must-visit on the Kigali city tour.

The city tour is interesting. The traffic is crazy!! The motorbike taxis make their own traffic rules so it certainly was interesting.

The Rwandan people left such an impression on us. They work very hard and many have very humble lives but they're such kind, warm, and gracious people. They're so happy! Our guide, Afrika, was funny, friendly and so very informative. He shared so much about Rwanda and its people and culture with us. He took amazing care of us the entire time we were with him and his tour exceeded any expectation we had of what our Rwandan experience would be. He became a friend in just the short time we spent with him." Read more about this whole safari

"The memorial was well set out and maintained, and very moving.

We felt that it gave us a background to what had occurred that was a useful start to our trip in understanding what had happened and why." Read more about this whole safari

"The tour gave us a good grounding on the history and make up of life in, not just Kigali, but also Rwanda. We would recommend this to anyone.

The genocide Memorial visit itself is a difficult, but rewarding experience.

It is certainly something which enables you to put into context a lot of how Rwanda is today as you travel around the country" Read more about this whole safari

Based at Heaven Boutique Hotel on 18 Aug 2022
"The Genocide Memorial was a very informative and well organised experience. Its layout is well structured and designed in a way to easily explain the history of the horrors that occured in 1994.

It pays its respects to the victims without being exploitative and, in terms of length, is well laid out. We did not feel as though the experience was overly long or too short.

We highly recommend this experience early in one's visit to Rwanda, so that they may understand the foundations of the country as it is today." Read more about this whole safari
