"Beach Lodge review"

3 nights Arrived 28 Jul 2014
"Beautiful setting by the beach offsets the inconvenience of the drive into town centre. Generally more corporate in feel but our room (Montrose) was fantastic with two floors, corner bath and balcony overlooking the breakers of the South Atlantic.

Breakfasts excellent and if staying in Beach Lodge you must eat in their restaurant The Wreck as the seafood is excellent and although it appears rather formal it isn't . If you stay in Swakopmund you must go on Tommys Living Desert Tour and visit the Village Cafe" See all these reviews: 22n in Namibia

"A good spot in Swakop. Worked for us, but you need to know it is a few kilometres out of town to the north (which we knew in advance). We liked the safety aspect of this and the availability of parking on the property in an enclosed area.

The dinners are very good, although the decor was a little aseptic." See all these reviews: 7n in Namibia; 5n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe

"Beach Lodge review"

3 nights Arrived 18 Jan 2014
"Beach Lodge had been recommended because it was on the sea front, and although it was 5km from Swakopmund centre this was OK because it had a highly recommended restaurant and we had no need to drive in the evening.
So it was a surprise to find the restaurant closed!

However the local Expert Africa agent did a good job and agreed to pay for a taxi into Swakopmund each night so everything was sorted quickly and efficiently. On arrival home the cheque for the cost of the taxi's had already arrived. A problem easily and quickly solved.

The Jetty was the best restaurant, followed by The Tug, then the Lighthouse which lacked ambience but had good food." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia

"Great location for Beach Lodge"

2 nights Arrived 13 Oct 2013
"Drove into Swakopmund in a sandstorm so possibly not a good introduction. The location of Beach Lodge was really good but it was VERY cold while we were here so could not take full advantage of the spectacular beach. However a couple of very windy beach walks enabled us to see the paddling flamingos and lots of other bird life. Our room had lovely views although on an upper floor and no lift.

The Wreck restaurant was not open on Sunday so we ate in Swakopmund. Tried several restaurants without success as the girl on reception had recommended places but not said we needed to book. Eventually got into KUCKIES after a wait which was not too much of a hardship as the bar was good and the seafood was excellent. Ate in the Wreck restaurant at the hotel on Monday but a bit disappointing, the food was good but not as nice as the night before. I felt they were trying too hard to be upmarket so was not really a relaxing atmosphere." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Beach Lodge right on the coast"

2 nights Arrived 12 Oct 2013
"We had a great room overlooking the beach and it was a great location just 5 mins drive north of Swakupmond.

We highly recommend the kayaking tour with Jeanne (Eco Marine Kayak Tours), excellent guiding and great fun kayaking with the seals and we were lucky enough to have 4 dolphins right by us whilst we were in the water.

We had an excellent meal at The Wreck, the restaurant at the Beach Lodge, well worth dining there, although closed on Sunday evenings.

The receptionist was not hugely helpful when we arrived which was slightly annoying, we needed to ask various questions with regard to internet, breakfast boxes, receiving a fax for our tour from Jeanne and some information was incorrect." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia

"Beach Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 1 Aug 2013
"I wasn't really looking forward to staying here as I thought it looked a little scary from the flier we'd been given, but it was actually fabulous!, a real surprise.

Reception very kindly gave us a family suite and it was superb! Oodles of space, kitchenette, two balconies, fabulous bathroom (well two actually!) and of course the restaurant there is tremendous and very very good value for money.

There was also a wood burning stove-type unit in one of the rooms which we absolutely loved. You have to supply your own wood & firelighters though, which of course isn't a problem at all." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia
