"Another great time in Africa, it always fascinates and enthralls us. No problems with any of our arrangements inspite of a fairly convoluted itinerary. If anyone has discovered an effective way of dealing with tetse flies we would appreciate their advice.They were quite a problem on the Lower Zambezi this year!

Apart from the flies our only other grumble was having to pay £75 visa charge each for a 6 hour stay in Zambia while en-route to Namibia,and then being charged again when we returned 5 days later.

"Our second triip to Namibia and all went well. We are in our late 60s and were a bit concerned about going up to the Caprivi but roads are excellent and nothing to worry us - though if we were to go again I think we would choose a cooler time of year (if there is one) and/or confine ourselves to accommodation with air conditioning.

Two warnings

1. Petrol is evidently a problem beyond Rundu. There was none at Kongola and only 93 octane at Divundu when we needed to fill up for our return journey

2. As we drove from Windhoek to the airport for our return flight a car overtook us and shouted out that we had a flat tyre. I thought the car was driving normally and carried on to the airport parking where our tyres seemed perfectly OK, so I think this was an attempted confidence trick. "This trip more that met with my expectations. I had imagined sitting in the tented accommodation looking out on the wilderness but the reality of actually doing just that was just wonderful.

Each location was small enough to feel the isolation and give us the freedom. We were able to feel the vastness and stillness of it all. All the accommodation was of a very high standard and comfortable but still gave us the feeling of being out in the wild.

"We were impressed by the luxury of the accommodation throughout - perhaps 'good' given to some establishments on this feedback only because some others were particularly 'excellent'.

The variety of scenery and the distances travelled between stops was well thought out and we'd enjoyed the liaison to work the itinerary out before the trip.

"An unforgettable trip. Everything worked well and repayed careful planning. We did 3000km in two weeks. This was far enough. We know some try and do too much and this must be a mistake as one needs to stop and draw breath and experience the desert.

Maruska was a great help when I was struggling to organise the trip on my own.

I will certainly use Expert Africa again

Suggestions for improvement:

I was very impressed with the guidebiook which became our bible. The only shortcoming was the comment on Swartfontein in the guidebook. The italians left four years ago and the new owners, although perfectly nice, are very much concentrating on hunting and those of a mild disposition may find it uncomfortable if there are hunters amongs their fellow guests.

"The booking of Camps Bay was a poor recomendation for a 3 night of stay . After my several sugestions of Waterfront in Cape town we accpted the idea that it was very expensive and not much diference in acess. Wrongly and fortunately Camps Bay Retreat Management saved our stay by moving us to Waterfront Village,with superb location and rooms.
