"Canyon Lodge- superb"
We joined the walk up the rocks in the evening to watch the sunset. Swimming pool was good.
We were booked in here by accident - we should have been at Canon Roadhouse. I think it was better to be here, nearer the canyon, But we dropped off at the Roadhouse on the way in and out and were fascinated by the cars. Cannot comment on the accomodation there but the staff were very helpful and the shop was good." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia
"Canyon Lodge review"
We arrived with a puncture and the staff were very helpful and had it all fixed within half and hour.
At the end of our holiday we played the "what was best?" game - best sights, best day, best lodge, worst road, etc. We changed the game to "what was the 2nd best lodge?" as Canyon Lodge was in it's own universe, so far removed from anything else we experienced. Worth going all the way to Namibia just for this lodge (and Fish River canyon)" See all these reviews: 8n in Namibia; 3n in South Africa
"Canyon Lodge review"
The canyon is stunning but with hindsight we could have driven ourselves there and saved over $N600 per person which was the price for Canon Lodge to take us there. Without doubt the worst value for money drive I have evr had in Namibia. Drive yourself!" See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia
"Canyon Lodge review"
The food was well presented and a good selection both at breakfast and dinner. There was a limited choice for lunch. The staff were all friendly, obliging and informative.
Taking into account that we did not have independent transport and the weather was on the cool side within the lodge there was little to do so perhaps a 3 night stay was one night too many. Two activiites can and were done on one day, morning and sundown drive. The guides on both these activities were knowledgable and very informative. The remaining day we spent in and around the lodge the conclusion was that this was one day to long." See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia

"Upgrade to canon lodge"
Our lodge was one of the ones at the edge of the resort and had uninterrupted views of the desert. The setting is very peaceful, accommodation quite unique with the showers built into the rocks
Food was probably the most varied of our trip and the singing of the staff ended a wonderful stay. From here the canyon is very accessible despite the road works
Lovely views for watching sunset" See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia

"Beautiful Lodge-Not Environmentally Friendly"
The chalet that we had was absolutely beautiful with a magnificient view of the surrounding landscape. The room was very comfortable and very clean. The food was very good and the service extraordinary. Staff was very attentive and helpful whenever we needed them.
However, during our stay we noticed many concerning things. First, as most people know (or should know), Namibia is mostly a desert which means water is precious. Within the lodge there are all these very pretty and green grassy areas. We all know grass needs a lot of water which, to our impression, is being wasted in the landscaping. There are many ways of landscaping that are desert-friendly.
We also learned that the umbrella company (Gondwana) is planning on "re-introducing" game (lions, giraffes, elephants) into the park. Again, you cannot sustain that kind of game in that location without destroying the environment. The rate at which grasses and plants grow is not appropriate for that. If someone wants to see those animals, The Fish River Canyon is not the place! They are trying to become competitive but they will destroy the surrounding ecosystem! I do not like supporting that kind of business." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia; 8n in South Africa
"Canon Lodge - 2 nights"
Wonderfully laid out with lots of green grass and trees, a veritable oasis in the desert, with the lodges dotted about blending in with the massive boulders. The pool at the edge of camp has a fantastic background of the wide open vastness of Namibia.
Drive to the Fish River Canyon next day with lots of wildlife sightings, then the "OH WOW" , just look at that view over and down into the Canyon! I'm now going to buy a "fisheye lens" for my camera!
The food in the restaurant at Canon Lodge was excellent." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia; 3n in South Africa
