"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"
"Could have stayed for a week"
Stayed in a single family tent - effectively segregated into two 'rooms' by a drop-down canvas curtain. Spectacular setting amongst the rocks. Plenty of dassies and geckos around. A few baboon spiders to make the kids squeal!
Large flocks of birds around communal areas - including hundreds of lovebirds. Nice small pool.
Guided walks available each morning and at sunset. Very interesting in spectacular setting. Kids really enjoyed. Guides very knowledgable.
Very high quality food. Good kids menu if ordered in advance. It seems a shame to identify one of the kids' highlights of a country like Namibia as a meal - but breakfast was just that!" See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia
"Fabulous location in Erongo Mountains..."
Doe and his wife provide a fabulous welcome to an amazing camp.
My wife and I had the 'honeymoon' lodge. Far from the centre of the camp with amazing views and many places to sit and watch the sun rise and set. The tented chalets were just perfect. We cannot understand a comment on Trip Advisor where people complain of gaps between wooden floorboards. This is a mountain region of Africa and there will be insects - not that we saw any!. It is not and never should be a sterile unnatural environment.
All food and wine was excellent and it is nice to get recommendations from Doe himself and understand a little about wine in Namibia. The dining room and small pool are in fabulous location and it was such a pleasure to use the facilities accompanied by a wide variety of birdlife.
This is a very special place. We hope it remains so. Do take the trip to Paula's cave. It's a highlight especially when coupled with a sun-downer. All staff and guides are wonderful - especially the fun sense that the guides bring to what they do whilst still being informative; special mention for Halacious (spelling?) who was tremendous fun and very informative..." "Erongo Wilderness Lodge - great walking"
The rooms and the setting of the camp are lovely. We did find our bed very uncomfortable though (much too hard for us).
We loved how they have a bird bath area visible from the restaurant. The meals were all excellent and delicious. Whilst we found the service at dinner both nights charming, it really was painfully slow." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia
"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"
On top of that, the food was superb -- among the very best of our trip -- and the manager (Doe) was friendly, funny, welcoming and informative. His advice about a newly graded D road to Twyfelfontain was on the mark and probably saved us close to two hours of driving. As a general piece of advice to travellors, I would always recommend consulting with lodges about the best onward route -- we found that the best routes were often not those highlighted on the EA provided map. (That map, by the way, was a great resource. We had bought two other road maps and the EA one was consistently the most up to date and accurate).
Because we had only booked one night, we just had time for a morning hike on the Eagle Trail, which took us up a nearby mesa for some great 360 degree views and was one of the best hikes of our trip. Staff was also welcoming and friendly. If we were redoing our trip, the only significant change we would make would be to add a night at Erongo and reduce Twyfelfontain from 2 nights to 1.
Omaruru is a charming small town and there is a fantastic outdoor art garden if you can find a contact to let you in. Our lunch at the Main Street Cafe, run by a photographer and expat from Boston was excellent and highly recommended." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Nowhere like this on earth!"
The tented accommodation was fabulous with a private location and semi-outdoor bathroom which I loved! The balcony was perfect for evening sundowner drinks and the room had all the amenities you need.
Meals at the cosy main lodge (with open fire) were delicious with great service.
I so wish we'd had an extra day here to make the most of it and spend time taking in the views and walking in the surrounding area." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia
"Lovely lodge"
This is a lovely lodge and plenty to do for a two night stay." See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia; 2n in Botswana
"Quiet Backwater"
Dinner was good. Just had glass of house wine each, which tasted good, but turned out to be the most expensive on the whole trip in Namibia by a distance.
Setting for meals is good , and enjoyed watching the rosie faced lovebirds while eating breakfast.
Did not enjoy driving up the over the rocks at post 6pm (pitch black)to the Lodge. This issue was raised with the Duty Manager and passed onto to the Co-owner.
Room/tents are different, but may be draughty if the wind is up.
The location is not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties to the tents or up to the restaurant.
In summary a pleasant spot away from it all." See all these reviews: 8n in Namibia; 2n in Botswana; 2n in Zambia; 1n in South Africa
"Attractive lodge"
The main lodge is attractively situated and the food excellent.
Erongo is strong on birds - the only game we saw were klipspringer and baboons.
It offers both guided and self-guided walks.
Relatively tame but very well done with beautiful views." See all these reviews: 19n in Namibia
