"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"

1 night Arrived 1 Jun 2014
"Quirky. Fun.

Too isolated for our one night stay. We had to park away from our accommodation which was not convenient for packing up on our last night.

Very cold at night in a tented room without the "sides" covered. Yes we could have covered them ourselves but this was looked after elsewhere. Food served outside under the stars - fine but could not see our food at all!!

Added inconvenient mileage for our last night and still a long way to the airport. Particularly rough road. Would have been extremely difficult for people with less than average mobility. Should point this out.

However a very nice free guided walk to the top of the rocks for sundowners!" See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Very Informal and Thoroughly recommended!"

1 night Arrived 31 May 2014
"We had a great stay here. The position of the lodge is beautiful and the staff were helpful without being intrusive.

The tented accommodation was great fun, a wilderness feel with Hot Water Bottles and all mod cons in a rocky desert valley. Perfect.

Dinner was very tasty and the cakes for tea were particularly good and served in generous amounts, while the views from the dining area were lovely.

The general ambience very relaxed on the surface but still very well organised.

NOTE: We loved the trip to the cave paintings, but it is not for the unfit and you absolutely need appropriate shoes to cross the boulders. One of our party is not particularly well and also found the walk up the long steps to the dining room quite hard work although the rest of us were fine.

We were very sorry to have to leave so soon." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia; 3n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe

"Erongo - baboons and wonderful birds"

2 nights Arrived 12 Mar 2014
"We spent two nights at Erongo on the way from Etosha to Solitaire, and it truly felt like stepping sideways out of the rest of the world. You need a 4x4 to drive up to the entrance (or park lower down and catch a ride), and the tented lodges are sited in a valley between three towering koppies that is its own self-contained little world.

The food is excellent, the lodges are incredibly comfortable and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Dinner on the patio outside the restaurant was excellent, and so was a whole day spent lazing and birdwatching. There are baboons in the hills all around and towards sunset they come back from foraging to groom and play dominance games in the rocks all around.

Two days was too short." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Lovely Setting"

1 night Arrived 11 Mar 2014
"Excellent setting, beautiful accommodation.

Loz and Mart knew the hosts from previous encounters - they used to run a lodge in Zamibia.

Not a lot going on, wouldn't recommend the game drive - didn't see anything!" See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia; 5n in South Africa
