"Little Tubu review"

3 nights Arrived 8 May 2014
"Little Tubu was simply fantastic. Our host, Gerad (?), was outstanding and made it so much fun. The service is personal and you get the feeling that every single member of staff is working like crazy to make sure the guests have the best possible experience. It was nice to be in a small camp after Chitabe. It had a much more authentic bush feel to it, especially as we were away from the tourists dressed head to toe in khaki carrying enormous camera lenses!

The location of the camp is beautiful and I am really glad that we stayed in both a land based and water based camp. I'm also glad we stayed at Little Tubu last as I don't think I would have enjoyed Chitabe so much after the magical experience we had at Little Tubu.

Our guide was also excellent. He was patient and even zipped off and found a leopard while we were waiting at the airport for our departure flight.

I cannot praise Little Tubu enough. However, they also did not know I was vegetarian when I arrived. Not only was this on my booking form but I had asked Chitabe to radio this message through to Little Tubu to make sure they knew. It was very disappointing that this had not been done. As a result, I think Little Tubu were unprepared and one day I had the same dish (vegetable curry) for lunch and dinner.

I think the camps do need to up their game a bit with vegetarian options as they are not anywhere near the standard and variety of what is on offer to meat eaters. Having said that, the food was always of a high standard, plentiful and beautifully served so it feels a bit petty to complain!" See all these reviews: 6n in Botswana

"Incredible, beautiful Little Tubu"

3 nights Arrived 12 Dec 2013
"Within minutes of arriving at Little Tubu, I had typed an email to a friend saying "this is the most beautiful place I have ever stayed in my life". The setting of the lodge and the beauty of the "tents" (permanent 20 by 30 foot rooms) was beyond compare. My tent had both indoor and outdoor showers, with the outdoor one having an open view onto the plain, where you might see zebras or impala grazing. Just the walk on the raised walkway out to the rooms was fantastic!

The staff were amazing and friendly but professional and after only 3 days, I felt like I'd made new friends. By pure luck, I was the only guest at the lodge for a full day and it was just awesome. Bee was a great guide and found us a leopard in a tree that we spent 45 minutes with and then followed through the bush. Even the veteran safari goers in my vehicle called it a "9 out of 10". Game drives at Tubu are different that the other lodges I went to because they start as soon as you leave camp (no driving to somewhere) and are very slow and meandering through the jungle. Even with the dense December bush we saw leopard, hyenas, buffalo and a black mamba and had some very intimate elephant moments among other things.

I had the good fortune of having Caroline, who works for Wilderness Safaris, on my game drives with me and she gave me great photography trips. When I told her about the great itinerary I had organized for my whole trip she asked who my travel agent was. When I told her Expert Africa, she said "oh, no wonder it's so good". :)

I really really hope to go back to Little Tubu some day. I loved it.

I should also mention than Bee makes drip coffee in a french press mid morning, which is an amazing treat - thanks Bee!" See all these reviews: 11n in Botswana; 2n in Zambia
