"Nxamaseri Lodge review"
2 nights Arrived 14 Jul 2011
"The start of the Nxamaseri experience was very promising given the magical location of the lodge. From that point onwards it turned into a progressive disappointment.
The welcome was mediocre and the first 20 minutes spent on signing liability waivers. Management does not appear motivated and overall service levels were poor. The rooms did not resemble the room used in their advertisement. The only bright light of the stay was Adam the guide. Overall very poor value for money" See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia; 2n in Botswana

"An amazing little hideaway in the Botswana pan handle. The drive from Namibia to the lodge was interesting and easy. Just leave time for border crossings and remember that Botswana is on different time to Namibia sometimes!
The water was high; the papyrus and reeds were thick. At this time of year (May), it was a place for hypnotic boat trips, some tiger fishing and an incredible array of birds. We also did the awesome (and bumpy) day trip to the Tsodilo Hills - a spiritual place with 3000 year old bushmen paintings. We'd highly recommend this.
The lodge itself has been family owned and run for many years and has a unique style and character. However, it has been struggling in recent times and new management has come in with what sound like reasonable plans for re-marketing and updating up it. We hope they keep the same special character and wish them well. The staff are part of the family and our guide, Socks, was excellent!" 3 nights Arrived 24 Apr 2011
"We loved our stay here and were made to feel very welcome by the whole team. The lodge has a very laid back atmosphere and you can set your own schedule as to activities which was very relaxing after the safari camps in the delta.
We went fishing and bird watching on the river, but the pinnacle of our stay was a trip to the Tsodilo Hills, what a sight! These are a truly amazing sight and a must see when in the panhandle. We'd both like to say how grateful we were for a brilliant stop over at Nxamaseri, keep it up!" See all these reviews: 6n in Botswana

2 nights Arrived 4 Feb 2011
"Another very nice lodge. The way in was a little tortuous taking nealy 40 mins by 4X4 pickup and then boat. Their transfer point from pickup to boat is getting further and further from the lodge it seems. The boat is alway needed since the lodge is on an island.
The location is wonderful. At least one of the boatmen (our guide) is very knowlegable in birds. The trips are superb. We had excellent views of fish eagle amonst others.
The staff and owners were very friendly. The open fronted rooms were provided with mosquito nets, insect repellant and repellant burning coils for the night." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia; 3n in Botswana

"Glad to have started on the Panhandle"
5 nights Arrived 9 Mar 2010
"Having our first stay at Nxamaseri meant that we were able to experience the Okavango River in the Panhandle as the annual surge was taking place: this gave perspective to our visit to the delta. The lodge provided boats to explore the river - fish, birds, and setting - and a vehicle to visit the Tsodilo Hills. Adam was an outstanding guide to all the wildlife, and on the Tsodilo expedition; and knew exactly how to handle the boat for fishing purposes. Jack and Eve provided all the welcome, support and advice that we could have asked for: including enabling us to re-arrange our itinerary with Expert Africa when this needed to be amended.
Maybe because we were the only visitors, this was a less formal camp than the two we stayed in in the delta. The excellent cooking and meals were 'home' rather than hotel-style.
This is not a location to be visited if big game viewing is an objective, as its brochures make clear. But it is an outstanding facility for appreciating the ecology of the delta, with people who have both the expertise and the commitment - and the literature - to explain it.
NB to anglers: for tigerfish, take standard big pike spinners with good quality hooks, and the best traces you can find (at least 20lbs bs.) Lightish rod OK." See all these reviews: 14n in Botswana

"Okavango River experience"
2 nights Arrived 6 Oct 2009
"The chalets were open-fronted and open under the eaves. This was unfortunate because:
(1) there was no safeguard against the predations of the local vervet monkeys, and
(2) the chalets were not proof in any way against insects from stagnant water which was everywhere around (the river was at its highest level for over forty years). We both got badly bitten by insects other than mosquitoes.
This was run essentially as a fishing camp, although there was plenty of birdlife, etc as an alternatve occupaton. Good guide." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia; 4n in Botswana

"Beautiful birds at Nxamaseri Lodge"
2 nights Arrived 10 Aug 2009
"A beautiful secluded spot for a restful visit to the Okavango Delta. Excellent guide for birding trips on the water - rich variety of the local bird life. Fantastic sunrises and sunsets!
The service was very personal. The chalets themselves gave a lot of privacy, but didn't have a proper front wall. You could solve this - if you didn't want to be brave at night - by pulling down a transparent tent canvas." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia; 5n in Botswana
