"Lagoon Camp"
Excellent game drives, superb knowledge of wildlife behaviour, very good spotters. Once there were tracs, we just drove off-road to follow the game.
Kwando camps were the only ones that had night drives, although night drives are advertised by Wilderness Safaris. The afternoon drives were not time-limited, we just went on as long as there was anything to see, also for quite a while after dark.
At Lagoon our guide was the manager, Jonah. He is absolutely outstanding; Plenty of animals, wonderful birds, we got really close for photography. We spotted a leopard in a tree, watching a buffalo heard; Jonah approached with infinite caution - we watched the cat in the tree, coming down and going up another tree, for quite a while and quite close. Wonderful." See all these reviews: 10n in Botswana
"excellent trackers and loads of game at lagoo"
the game was prolific and those guys know how to track it but we spotted the honey badger!
we miss the elephant at night!
the airstrip at lagoon is now closed so they are using Lebala which can mean travelling in the midday sun back to lagoon if you land in Labala at midday
we think that a fan in the room would of been a big plus
the pool filtration system had not been used and there were bugs in the water" See all these reviews: 6n in Botswana; 2n in Zambia
"Nice Camp -good but not top safari"
That being said we felt that Kwando has got into such a routine at its Camps that the experience is almost "canned" . Guides were were good and knowledgeable but again feeling working to their programme rather than client. Focus on big stuff rather than trying to make all sightings interesting. If pushed then fully prepared to stop and explain e.g birds were low on Guide's totem pole; but next time again had to be stopped and asked.
I think Kwando really need to work on bringing back the individual experience taillored to client. 3 years ago at Kwara experience was completely different which is why we chose Kwando again and bit disappointed. (From fellow guests heard same about Kwara)" See all these reviews: 7n in Zambia; 6n in Botswana; 2n in Namibia; 2n in South Africa
"Wild Dog paradise"
The highlight here are the large elephant population and of course the wild dogs, we were fortunate to be there as the 9 nine week old pups were moving den and spent a night following them on their first hunt with the parents - this was something very special.
highly recommended and non of the guides will let you down and the use of a seperate tracker make the experience different and the interaction between the two of them provides ample entertainment in it's own right. The camp also catered for my 16 old daughter extremely well." See all these reviews: 11n in Botswana
