"African wild dog"
the magis that is africa
Botswana and 1 other country between 6 Sep 2007 and 16 Sep 2007
everyone at the camps was really good, nothing was too much trouble, sad to leave africa
we love informality but wondered if the staff should wear first name tabs ,staying only 2/3 nightsyou really struggle with names other than your tracker and guide.
you missed out african Odessey transfer which was not good. the guy that met us had no juice on his phone and the minibus was late, when he turned up we were not on his list. then he checked and said our flight was 12.45. he must of then received another call because we went from slow to fast to the airport,we arrived at 5 to 11 for an 11am flight!"
Feedback response
We’re delighted that the trip went so well; good sightings of wild dogs are a rare treat and privilege these days!
We have looked into the “missed african Odessey transfer” in detail. This was a transfer between Siankaba and Kasane. It seems that a vehicle responsible for part of this transfer didn't arrive and needed a mobile phone call to summon it.
Fortunately the delay wasn’t great, and our travellers arrived at Kasane airport in the nick of time to catch their flight to Lagoon. We’re looking carefully at why this happened, and are confident that it was a one-off error - although had they been late, the flight should have waited for them.
Meanwhile – our traveller commented that “ultimately ‘hakuna mutata’ but sitting by the Zambezi waiting for the bus was an interesting moment of reflection but all adds to the African experience and watching the pontoon boats ply their trade across the river kept us occupied.”
Islands of Siankaba
"great camp in lovely position on zambesi"
good food
lovely position and stylish lodges
lovely sundowner and mokoro trips
we didn't do the village ran out of time which was a real pity
why would you want to stay in a hotel in livingstone?"
Lagoon Camp
"excellent trackers and loads of game at lagoo"
the game was prolific and those guys know how to track it but we spotted the honey badger!
we miss the elephant at night!
the airstrip at lagoon is now closed so they are using Lebala which can mean travelling in the midday sun back to lagoon if you land in Labala at midday
we think that a fan in the room would of been a big plus
the pool filtration system had not been used and there were bugs in the water"

"a little gem"
position and layout of camp is great
best food
rooms are huge ,i think too big and i don't like sliding doors in the middle of africa, also missed the fan
game was much less than lagoon but the drives were still great because of the different types of landscape"
