"We enjoyed a fantastic trip.

Kafue was new to us, then we went back to south Luangwa for our fourth visit.

The safari lodges were all of a high standard, although Ila was not really our sort of place, as it seemed more like a hotel than a traditional safari lodge.

"Lucy spent quite a lot of time arranging our trip - mostly because we had to book Avios flight with British Airways and availability was sometimes difficult on required dates.

Of particular note, when we arrived at JNB there was a downtime with electricity and the airbridge was inoperable. We had assisted passage though the airport with British Airways and we were taken straight to the transfer desk rather than to the place at which we would be met by one of your team. Lucy was concerned that we may have missed the London to JNB flight and contacted us to find out whether there had been a problem to find out.

Overall we had a great holiday and throughout the whole process were confident about the organisation of the holiday. The arrangements went well with no problems but we were confident that if a problem arose your HQ team of the lodge teams would solve it without any fuss.

We have recommended your organisation to friends who are considering a safari. Since this was our third safari with Expert Africa, demonstrates that we are comfortable with the way in which you conduct business and the quality of the holidays." We were 2 couples with a vehicle per couple so every night we were delighted to see each other again!

"Excellent, far exceeded our high expectations. We particularly enjoyed the two week self-drive in Namibia with our friends in convoy. All the accommodations more than met our needs and budget with Camp Kipwe and Ongava Camp being the absolute high lights.

The EuropCar Toyota Hilux vehicles were comfortable and robust and gave confidence on the corrugated roads (Landcruiser not needed) and staff both ends of the trip were terrific.

The Wilderness Meet and Greet Service at Windhoek Airport was tremendously helpful getting SIM cards, ATM and assistance with hire car, coolbox was really appreciated. If you're travelling in convoy, consider using walkie talkies as phone coverage was often very limited.

"When planning the holiday we asked for camps that not only offered the potential for high quality game viewings but were also high quality; intimate; a little off the beaten track; and a bit different from each other. Expert Africa pointed us towards Kicheche Laipikia (3 nights) and Kicheche Mara (4 nights) and the combination delivered in spades.

Both were luxurious yet intimate, feeling like you were in the heart of the African bush. Both were a little away from most other camps, meaning that many viewings were on our own. Both provided an excellent service and dedicated and knowledgable guide to show us around. The food was excellent at both camps as was the camaraderie around the fires in the evening.

However, the main reason you come is for animal sightings and we were not disappointed. The two camps offer slightly different landscapes. Laikipia is more bush and has a proliferation of rhinos. Mara is more classic African plains where the big cats are a bit easier to find.

Over the seven days we saw plenty of black and white rhino (all in Laikipia), 3 cheetahs (2 Mara, 1 Laikipia) and 2 leopards (1 each). Lions were too many to count - well in excess of 20, along with numerous elephants, giraffes and hippos.

"We were expecting great things and I had built the vision of “holiday of a lifetime”. We were not disappointed! We both agreed that this was the best holiday either of us had ever had and almost every day exceeded expectations. The itinerary was spot-on, the accommodation excellent, and occasionally mind-blowing, the scenery spectacular and ever-changing and our few excursions thoroughly enjoyable. To then add the value for money when eating and drinking and fuel prices a third lower than here in UK, our additional spend was well under budget! "What can we say! We had no idea what to expect from Africa or a safari and this trip and all the animals, accommodation, scenery, food and people far exceeded our expectations.

The same could not be said of the roads, though, most of the non-tarred ones were much worse than we expected. It was a very good place to get what they call a "Namibian massage" as we bumped along in our all-wheel drive Nissan X-Trail.

Beware, food portions are very big, like in the US! The quality of the food is superb, especially the beef, so tender.

We were apprehensive that we were staying in tents at some of the places - but they were nothing like what we expected the tent to be. They were really big and solid and felt safe (our main concern), plus all except Kanaan Desert Retreat had amazing facilities and amenities in them. Beds everywhere were really comfortable too.

"I think it was thanks to Tom Morris and his suggestions that we had one of the best holidays we have ever had. He really listened to what I wanted out of this holiday and tailored it to perfection - it could not be improved. it was everything we wanted from a safari and more. I had a lot of questions for Tom about general things such as wildfires, trophy hunting, the political regime etc before signing up and he answered them all, comprehensively and honestly.
When the documentation arrived in our leather travel pouch we were so impressed by the level of detail - all those names and phone numbers provided really did inspire confidence and reassurance. We felt we were in safe hands. Never before , no mater how much we have paid, have we had such a level of detailed input. And this was very much appreciated.
