"The star of the show"

3 nights Arrived 16 Sep 2022
"This lodge and surrounding area are very unique and different from anywhere else we have stayed.

The views, levels of personal service, food, facilities etc are all at the very top end and the wildlife viewing turned out to be miles better than we expected.

Special mention to Tatenda or guide and Sasha, Tabs and Anusa who looked after us in the lodge - all of them are class acts." See all these reviews: 11n in Zimbabwe

"Part of the family at Bumi Hills"

2 nights Arrived 25 Mar 2013
"Bumi Air pilot Mike Schuil flew over the Falls at our request which was wonderful as we hadn't had time to do the helicopter ride. Brilliant welcome from Natalie and Denise. Game drive with Wilhem who was very informative and passionate about wildlife. Also did another game drive and several boat trips including a fishing trip with Rogers and sunset cruise. Advantage of Bumi is that you can see the animals very close when you go on the water. The Big 5 are not here and people should realise that when they book. No giraffes or leopards or rhinos. Staff were happy to do anything we wished and prepare meals as and when we wanted them when we arrived and left.

We were given a free room upgrade because the lodge was really quiet. 3 things we reported were wrong in our room were fixed immediately so no complaints there. Rather surprised that there was no power between 9am and 6pm and air con went off at 5am. It didn't worry us and we charged our appliances in the office.

Slightly limited breakfast with tinned fruit again but we had cooked breakfasts and the waiter, Sheckie, was the best waiter we had all holiday - and Jaison was good too. The diffidence of the waiters at Ilala was not present at all here. Food very good although the difficulty of getting supplies to the Lodge was apparent but we were prepared to overlook this. A little annoying to have to keep signing for the inclusive drinks - wine and beer and soft drinks. Would be better just to make this an all inclusive resort.

All in all we felt part of the family. The entire staff turned out to see us off by plane again and waved goodbye. This was the hotel that we were not expecting to enjoy so much but it surpassed our expectations. Internet excellent around the reception area.

Spa therapist very capable and pleasant.

My husband was a little concerned by the age of the tiny planes that Bumi Air use - a 1968 Cessna with one engine returned us to Harare. No complaints with the flights and they fitted in with our plans when we requested an earlier flight to Harare." See all these reviews: 4n in Zimbabwe; 4n in Zanzibar

"Return to Bumi"

2 nights Arrived 21 Sep 2011
"On arrival we were met by Justine who told us she had upgraded us to a Premium Room which meant we had superb, uninterrupted views across the lake, exactly as we remembered them from our first visit in 1993. The position of the lodge on top of the hill is great, providing stunning views as we drove out each morning, stopping to look at the African Hawk Eagle and its nest below us.

Our room was large, airy and very comfortable and clean. There was plenty of storage space, a safe and a refrigerator.

Service was excellent in every way. Even though there was a hen-party, followed by a lavish wedding taking place, our needs were never neglected and everyone was extremely friendly and helpful whilst under pressure.

All meals were beautifully presented and delicious with a good choice of dishes.

In just two days we fitted in two game drives, a game walk, two lake cruises and a visit to the local village and school. The guides were very enthusiastic, informative and knowledgable and conscious of our comfort.

The Lodge has a most beautiful infinity pool which was immaculately clean and there is a poolside bar serving drinks. There is a television room for those that want to keep up with the soccer scores! There are many bird and mammal books around for guests to use." See all these reviews: 10n in Zimbabwe
