"Linkwasha Camp review"
The camp is in a perfect location on a private concession within Hwange National Park. Since it is on a private concession, there are almost no other vehicles to compete with for viewings, walking safaris are offered, and there is more flexibility in general than not being in a private concession. There is a waterhole in front of camp, where many many animals come to drink during the day, and a hide with drinks (and a bed!) where members of our group sat for over 2 hours looking at the animals up close.
Our guides were Frank and Tongo, and they were among the best guides that my husband and I had the pleasure of knowing in our 8 or 9 trips to Africa. And the animals! We saw hyenas, 28 lions in a single day, my first sightings of cheetah and painted wolves (aka wild dogs) and so much more. Our group went on a walking safari, and saw giraffes, zebra and got within 5-6 meters of an elephant. It was truly amazing and an experience I will always remember. We would end the afternoon game drives with cocktails and excited talk about our day sitting around a fire pit.
The rooms are tents, but they are luxurious and HUGE. One couple said the tent is larger than their condo unit! You can control heat and A/C in the rooms, which was great since the temperatures could fluctuate 25-30 degrees in the span of a day.
All meals were so delicious. And every single member of the staff was so kind and attentive. In addition to our our guides, Frank and Tongo, special shout-outs to Avias, Obie and Nozile.
I actually cried a lot when it was time to leave because I wanted stay longer!" See all these reviews: 6n in Zimbabwe; 3n in South Africa
"Linkwasha Camp review"
Although some of the evenings were cold we had heated blankets and the room came with heating and air con if needed. The room was absolutely beautiful and stylish. The water hole here didn’t seem to be frequented as much as at Little Makalolo but the elephants did wander around during the afternoon. The game viewing here was great. Lots of lion prides and cheetah sightings.
My son needed to speak to a doctor with a tummy bug and that was taken care of immediately. Also we had forgotten our camera charger and this was the only camp to offer us theirs to use. Wished we had stayed an extra night.
We split four nights in between two camps that were close together. Maybe 2\3 combo may have been better or 3/3 the best. Even though the drive between both camps was short and we didn’t miss out on a game drive , you get a better feel of a camp after three nights.
I don’t regret doing it as both camps offered different experiences but don’t think going forward I would want to pack unpack again so quickly. I must add that Expert Africa did not recommend this originally to me but I suggested it as I had read great reviews about both camps." See all these reviews: 8n in Zimbabwe
