"Tafika review"

2 nights Arrived 13 Oct 2007
"We had a wonderful 2 nights at Tafika, the rooms, the food and the staff were excellent. We had some great game drives and a interesting bush walk to the neraby Chikoko tree camp during which we had a close encounter with a couple of lions, safely managed by our local Scout.

Tafika, Chikoko and Crocodile camps are run by the same company and have breakfast (at 5.30 am) before going out on the morning drive or walk. Frankly my stomach doesn't wake up until much later than I do and after experiencing the after drive breakfasts at Mwamba and Kaingo camps I have to say I prefer the latter, with a light lunch early afternoon." "superb safari and a first-rate camp"

4 nights Arrived 4 Oct 2007
"A real gem - personal, indiviudal, idiosyncratic in a good way, very high guiding standards, excellent food, really nice staff, owner-managers added a personal dimension, plentiful game - all round a first-class safari experience.

Outstanding leopard sightings on night drive (and in daytime), crocodile meat-fest on dead buffalo, lion at night, porcupine, genet, civet, serval, elephant, huge buffalo herd, lots of antelope, kudu, etc. Loved the structure of the day - early wake up, breakfast round the camp fire on the riverbank, tea break in game drive, fabulous lunch, wonderful afternoon tea, sundowners, and very nice dinners.
The hosts were charming, the guides were great, everything was good.

Small quibble - the quality of the wine was poor, and worse than at the other camps." See all these reviews: 8n in Zambia

"Tafika review"

4 nights Arrived 2 Oct 2007
"Excellent point is that you feel you are very much included as part of the "family" - a very friendly environment.
We made a slight error in that as we were staying for 4 nights and only using the 4WD activities and as their 4WD journeys tend to go in the same direction from the camp there became a feeling of "repetitveness" . In view of this comment we feel that 3 nights is probably a better period for the current location if you are just using 4WD trips.
(There are other activities eg walking trips in addition to 4WD)

We will return." See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia; 4n in Botswana

"Excellent - very friendly camp"

4 nights Arrived 26 Sep 2007
"Very impressed with what the Coppingers offer at Remote Africa. Tafika is a lovely camp, relaxed but also serious about what they are doing. Microlight flights offer a different dimension dimension - highly recommended.

At Tafika, best food we've had in the Valley - and that is saying something!" See all these reviews: 14n in Zambia

"The best camp"

3 nights Arrived 25 Sep 2007
"This place, with the walking camps over the river, feel almost like home. It was great to see old friends and the high standards encounterd previously were maintained.

All aspects of the visit were excellent and if I was to choose 1 place only to go back to then this would be it. Great fun and homely. They even do haircuts now as long as it's not too fancy." See all these reviews: 15n in Zambia

"Back to Tafika"

2 nights Arrived 3 Sep 2007
"[Ed: these travellers visited Tafika twice this trip - either side of the walking camps; see below for their comments on their first stay here.]

Only one slight disappointment was that on the last night drive a problem developed with the vehicle so the spot light and head lights failed. As we had seen so much on other occasions this did not matter much to us but might have been disappointing had we not had such an amazing experience up to that point.

They also arranged a visit to the local school which Tafika Lodge supports. The teachers and children were really welcoming. It was an eye opener to see the facilities and living standards of the local people.

I recommend anyone who has the chance should meet the people as well as the animals." See all these reviews: 9n in Zambia

"Wonderful wildlife at Tafika"

2 nights Arrived 29 Aug 2007
"From the moment we arrived at Tafika Lodge we knew we were going to have an amazing time. We had the personal attention of Carol and John and their staff for most of our stay as we arrived just as other guests were leaving.

Dinner for two by candlelight on the edge of the Luangwa was a real highlight. The guides were knowledgable and imparted their enthusiasm and respect for the wildlife to us.

The food was excellent - much appreciated as a vegetarian to feel that the vege dishes were not an after thought." See all these reviews: 9n in Zambia

"Tafika - Microlighting over the Luangwa"

3 nights Arrived 25 Aug 2007
"Really great accommodation and food. All staff very friendly, attentive and helpful. Carol, John and Jenny wonderful hosts. Microlight trip was a major highlight. Enjoyed the company of the pet cats and dogs, especially the cat who slept on our bed. Carmine bee eaters and massing crowned cranes were spectacular.

Very much enjoyed drives and walks. The hide in camp is a good idea, although it wasn't very active during our visits. Great guiding from Brian, Stephen and Alex. Would love to go back.

Only downside was that two of the guides went down with malaria while we were there which must have caused organisational problems for some activies." See all these reviews: 13n in Zambia

"Tafika - First impressions of Zambia"

3 nights Arrived 18 Aug 2007
"Great welcome and reception - food and accommodation beyond our expectation. Steven was the perfect guide and made sure we got to see everything. We also enjoyed meeting other like-minded people. An excellent first three days of our holiday.

Since it was the first stop we could have done with some guidance on tipping and contribution to the staff box." See all these reviews: 14n in Zambia
