"My Oct 2016 trip"

I visited Zambia between 26 Oct 2016 and 3 Nov 2016
"Our overall trip way exceeded our expectations but we didn't know what to expect as we hadn't done a safari before. It was certainly expensive but I think we got value for our money. We loved all our guides and found Ruth in Nsefu specially pleasant.

The animals were on parade for us and we were very lucky to see almost everything the first day and could relax after that and just enjoy the drives for what turned up and plenty did. We didn't get to see the wild dogs but that will be our reason to return

The only sour note in the entire trip were the staff on the SAA flight from Joburg to Heathrow who appeared to think that the customers were there just to get in their way, they were so rude & unhelpful that we have sworn to never fly with them again!

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

That's a difficult one!

We are struggling to think of anything but have come up with nothing.

We would definitely use Expert Africa and recommend you to our friends. But most of them are wimps and wouldn't appreciate hippos against the tents and frogs in the bathroom but we loved every second!" Read full review: 8 nights in Africa; 6 on a Zambia safari

"Back to Zambia afte a long absence"

I visited Zambia between 8 Oct 2016 and 24 Oct 2016
"We had a really wonderful trip and the Expert Africa arrangements slotted in perfectly with the segment that we arranged on our own, the renting of a house on the outskirts of Lusaka.

What was especially impressive was the way Expert Africa arranged our various transfers to and from the airports. Our arrival at Lusaka where apparently there are often delays was lightened by the person who met us insisting that we join the queue for diplomats in the hope of hastening the the process.

A minor observation on our transfer from the Royal Livingstone to the the Livingstone airport. It may be an idea if Expert Africa used the hotel mini-buses rather than Wild Africa.

The Commissionaire was quite distressed when he could not contact Wild Africa's office by phone; he finally made contact with the driver by radio. There was no delay and we arrived at the airport in good time.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

We really do think that you have a wonderful product and will not hesitate it to our friends.

We were particularly impressed with how wel the segment that we arranged, the hiring of a house in Lusaka, slotted in with the rest of the holiday arranged by Expert Africa.

We would like to thank Expert Africa for sending us a copy of Bradt's Guide of Zambia which we enormously enjoyed reading.

Finally our especial thanks to Lucy Copson who was always at hand to help and who we had the pleasure of meeting at Kiango." Read full review: 16 nights in Africa; 5 on a Zambia safari

"Getting away from it all"

I visited Zambia between 8 Oct 2016 and 18 Oct 2016

"Overview"

I visited Zambia and 1 other country between 4 Oct 2016 and 20 Oct 2016
"We had a fabulous trip. it was all we had hoped for and went without a hitch.

It seems that it is standard practice in safari camps to eat 'family style', hosted by members of the camp staff. On talking with other guests at both camps we nearly all agreed that we would have preferred to eat separately. We realise that this is not something that Expert Africa can control but maybe worth passing on to the camps that you deal with.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

A little more clarity on visas would have helped. I was told that for Malawi we could get visa on arrival but your literature advises to get it in advance. In the event we went for 'on arrival' and it was no problem.

Also a little more clarity of what airport taxes we would need to pay would have saved a call or two to your office to find out." Read full review: 16 nights in Africa; 9 on a Zambia safari

"South Luangwa & Kafue Oct 2016"

I visited Zambia between 3 Oct 2016 and 15 Oct 2016
"Trip was fantastic. Freddie had really taken on board the type of trip we were looking for with small remote bush camps, and walking safaris focussing on the ecology of the bush. The variety and interest were ideal for us.

Although the parks are quite far apart, we are really glad we visited 2 different ones. South Luangwa had the highest concentration of game you can imagine, but also the highest temperatures. Kafue was refreshingly cooler, with some different species, and still plenty of the larger game.

We loved Zambia and would definitely go back again, and certainly use Expert Africa to plan our itinerary.

"Zambian dream vacation"

I visited Zambia and 1 other country between 1 Oct 2016 and 14 Oct 2016
"This was an amazing vacation! The camps/food/game viewing were excellent.

Thanks again Maruska for all your help in putting this trip together.

You are always a pleasure to work with.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

Passport check for Chris took three hours in Johannesburg. I'm not sure if Expert Africa arranged the representative for us in Lusaka, but it made our arrival/departure a breeze. Thank You! We checked our bags to our destination on the departure as to avoid the nightmare in Johannesburg.

I hoped to visit the shops at the main entrance to the park on the way to the airport. Unfortunately, due to our early flight they were not open. Had I known, we could have made arrangements at the start of the trip. Not a big deal --- there's always next time ... just mentioned it in case other guests had the same idea." "A memorable trip - the safari was brilliant"

I visited Zambia and 1 other country between 28 Sep 2016 and 12 Oct 2016
"A brilliant holiday.

We wanted a mix of safari and relaxation which was exactly what we got. The choice of Kaingo and Mwawba was perfect given my interest in photography and really is a top quality location. On reflection we should have spent more time there - 4 days at each would have been good but that was our fault as we only wanted 6 days on safari we will know better next time.

Pumulani was lovely but 7 nights was a bit long, 4 would have been ideal.

All the connections and transfers worked well and the level of service in both locations was really good.

"My Sep 2016 trip"

I visited Zambia between 20 Sep 2016 and 7 Oct 2016
"We enjoyed our Zambian safari, experiencing areas we hadn't visited before and seeing cheetah again! On reflection we could have done with 3 nights less, as the heat became quite debilitating but then we wouldn't have wanted to miss any of the camps as they were all so contrasting. Happily the tsetse flies in Kafue were not as bad as we had feared.

In hindsight we did seem to spend (waste) far too much time transferring between parks. The Kafue to Lusaka road transfer was a mistake and not worth the cost saving. The Jeki transfer got us to Lusaka far too early for the Emirates connection, although there wasn't a later alternative. In short, we saw far too much of Lusaka airport (a dire environment) - not the best use of time." Read full review: 17 nights in Africa; 15 on a Zambia safari

"Our September 2016 trip"

I visited Zambia between 18 Sep 2016 and 28 Sep 2016
"All in all, a wonderful trip. More than achieved all our hopes. We were able to walk a lot, which was the main point, apart from a minor hiccup at Nsefu in the afternoons. Game viewing was brilliant, including everything we expected and several superb sightings of wild dogs and leopards. The guides were first class. The camps were most comfortable but still managed to feel as if they belonged in the bush (with slight reservations about Nsefu, see above). Food exceeded expectations, especially the lunches which were absolutely excellent. Wines and other drinks also surprisingly good. Everyone who looked after us at the camps and on the walks and drives was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We shall certainly plan to do another trip to Zambia, perhaps at a slightly different time of year or in a different area but would particularly like to return to Luwi and Tena Tena. Nsefu would be for one night only as a jumping off point for a mobile camp." Read full review: 10 nights in Africa; 10 on a Zambia safari
