"Superb Safari at Nsefu"
The location of Nsefu Camp is breathtaking - the whole camp is right on the river with broad sweeping views of it and the animals in and crossing the water. The water hole was a great attraction for every kind of antelope and lots of warthogs and the hide meant many animals came to within inches of us. It was such a treat to see the usually skittish antelope be so relaxed and watch them so closely and for so long. The food was delicious and the camp was run beautifully. Our guide was fantastic - so experienced and extensively knowledgeable and very attuned to our wishes (what we wanted to see, how long we wanted to stay, how much information we wanted) and was very good company.
If the camp had been full we might have found the rondavels too close to have the full in-the-wilderness experience and we do prefer the more open feel of a tent - but in fact we spent so little time inside it hardly mattered and they are very attractively done and the outdoor bathroom opens them out very well." "great start to holiday at Nsefu"
The rooms are quite close together but we were lucky that the camp wasn't full so we didn't feel too overlooked.
The location makes up for it anyway, it is probably the best in South Luangwa.
I could lie on my bed in the afternoon and watch the elephants crossing the river.
Our guide, Thomas, was excellent. We saw Leopard, Lion, Wild dogs and much more, all on our first morning drive!
Excellent sightings carried on for our whole visit there.
There was also some wonderful bird life there. We even managed to get a very good sighting of Pel's fishing owl.
The food was also excellent, and the camp host, Ruth was extremely good.
Couldn't have asked for a better start to a trip!" See all these reviews: 10n in Zambia
"Nsefu review"
The lunch time meals were good and varied but meals at dinner could have been better in comparison with other safari lodges we have experienced on this and on previous holidays. We appreciated our private dinner though which was a thoughtful gesture and we were well looked after overall." See all these reviews: 14n in Zambia
"Campfire comradeship"
When we arrived at camp it was just about lunchtime and we were sitting in the bar having pre-prandrial drinks when two more guides came in. I thought, of one of them, "Oh, he's got the same 'phone as me," but then quickly realised he was holding out my own 'phone to me! He had found it in the bush, quite near where the lions were. He had spotted it and yelled to the driver to stop, just in the nick of time. I hadn't even noticed it had gone from my pocket, so was completely spared the awfulness of losing my 'phone, with all my numbers, photos, little films and so on. So wonderful! If it had stayed out there near the lions I would have fretted about it for days, if not weeks, and never have even known what had happened to it. As a demonstration of the marvellous attention to detail that was manifest around us, this was tops.
Our hostess, Ruth, was really wonderful. I think of all the people I met on this holiday, she is the one I would most hope to see again. On I think our third day, half a dozen other people joined us who had been walking. Their scout had been in front, with a rifle, but suddenly a buffalo had appeared, charging at the line of "chickens" along the narrow path through the long grass. The guide didn't have time to fire, but kicked out at the buffalo with his foot and managed to deflect it just enough so that no-one was hurt - but this is not my story, though the opinion voiced was certainly of gratitude and amazement at the courage and resourcefulness of the scout...
Later we sat around a campfire on the riverbank and sang songs with and to each other. I was very sad to leave Nsefu!" See all these reviews: 21n in Zambia
"Nsefu review"
The location is perfect and it is in a less visited part of the park. We were made welcome by Sebastian and Ruth. All the staff were fantastic.
Special thanks goes to our guide Chelumba and to Thomas. The wildlife viewing was outstanding." See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia
"Overnight at Nsefu"
The rooms are closer together than at other RPS camps but the location and the game which comes to the river each day - and into camp - is wonderful.
Food and service as good as ever." See all these reviews: 10n in Zambia
"Masses of game in wonderful habitats"
Although the dining area had been washes away the dining table set with proper chairs under the trees was spectacular.
Game plentiful and the walking safaris memorable." See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia
"Beautiful Nsefu!"
I have been to Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda, all wonderful place's, but what i loved most about Zambia is the remoteness, seeing more animal's then people, it's just packed with wildlife, and you can go day's before you saw another vehicle.... and have to reiterate how lovely the Zambian people are!" "Return to Nsefu"
We were delighted by the warm welcome from Daudi, who manages Nsefu so well, and Braston, whose guiding skills are exceptional. He is an expert at "reading the bush".
The Nsefu cooks produced memorable meals on every occasion. We will be back!" See all these reviews: 16n in Zambia
