"Amazing Safari at Kafunta River Lodge"

5 nights Arrived 20 Jul 2016
"I could not imagine that a safari adventure could be any better. Kafunta River Lodge is located next to a great lagoon, fed by the natural hot spring that feeds the spa. Every lodge has a great view of the river and the various wild life that comes to drink and lounge in the water. The deck where meals are served overlooks the lagoon and you have a wonderful view of the Hippo, Elephants, Giraffe, African Wild Dogs, Lions and what ever else happens to wander by.

The staff is first rate all the way and someone is always around to tend to your every need. The chef and staff prepared some of the best meals that you could ask for. The lodges are open and airy with a private deck that over looks the river.

We were very fortunate to have Martin for our guide for most of our stay. He can spot a wild dog a half mile away just from the white on the tip of it's tail. We saw almost every animal on our list of "hope to see" by the second day. The guides are very knowledgeable and are a wealth of information, although as good as he is I find it hard to believe that Martin can tell how many spots are on a leopard just by looking at the footprint. We saw Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Hyena, Wild Dogs, Giraffe, Eagles, Hippos, Antelope. Wild dogs making a kill, a leopard with a fresh kill, leopards during the day, leopards at night. If there was wildlife around than Martin would find it, he is amazing.

The staff are so much fun, you can tell that they all love the Luangwa Valley and do every thing they can to ensure that you have a good time.

"Kafunta River Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 4 Jul 2016
"Great location. Very friendly staff who looked after us very well.

In terms of overall safari experience there were a few too many safari trucks on game drives but that is in part probably due to price - you pay more for exclusiveness. Great variety of game.

the leopard chalet was extra special as was the lunch up the tree platform." See all these reviews: 14n in Zambia

"Great Safari at Kafunta River Lodge"

2 nights Arrived 6 Sep 2015
"We had a wonderful stay at Kafunta River Lodge. Beautiful lodge, lovely staff, excellent food and amazing game viewing. The only minor inconvenience we encountered was the lack of electricity after 10 PM due to load shedding.

I'm not sure there's much they can do to remedy this, but we did enjoy having power after 10 PM at another lodge we visited that ran on solar panels and batteries." See all these reviews: 5n in Zambia

"Lovely time at Kafunta"

2 nights Arrived 24 Sep 2014
"Kafunta River Lodge has a lovely position. All chalets overlook a flood plain, so you can watch animals from your viewing deck. We even had a visit from some lions one evening.

The staff, management, guides and support staff, are all extremely attentive and do everything they can in order to make your stay enjoyable. We saw all the animals we wished for, even wild dogs, twice.

My only reservation about Kafunta is that this stretch of the park, the Mfuwe section, has become quite busy, especially around the bridge area" See all these reviews: 7n in Zambia; 7n in Malawi

"Kafunta"

4 nights Arrived 3 Sep 2014
"Very friendly and comfortable lodge. The service and local staff were wonderful but we found the female managers at times overbearing and controlling. We loved the way that most of the service staff were local - they were fun, engaging and informative. Even the night guards were friendly and fun to talk to.

We had drives with 4 of the guides and found them all to be experienced, knowlegeable and very focussed on giving us the best experience possible. They picked up on our particular interests very quickly and showed us everything we wanted to see.

We loved the pool and the hot tub and we were very happy in our rooms." See all these reviews: 9n in Zambia
