Kenya between 19 Feb 2023 and 6 Mar 2023
"We had a fabulous few days in Kenya. As previously when we traveled with Expert Africa everything ran smoothly from start to finish. The camps were great and the experiences varied. the recommendations were perfect for us.
Thank you for organising such a wonderful itinerary!"

Kicheche Valley

"Kicheche Valley is a wonderful Camp. From the moment we stepped off the plane there was game to be seen and a welcoming and informed driver to point it out.
The tents were very luxurious, comfortable beds, good bathroom facilities and wonderful views across the valley with plenty of activity to be seen.
The food was excellent and the camp staff were all helpful and friendly. We were treated to a Masai dance one evening which was wonderful.
The game drives were excellent and our guide, Johnson, was good company, extremely well informed and keen to share his knowledge, both of birds as well as the game. There were limited numbers of other vehicles in the conservancy so the game viewing experience was sensitive and often solitary."

Kicheche Walking Wilderness
"Kicheche Walking Wilderness review"

"We walked out of camp and stayed in a fly camp one night, en route to Kicheche Bush Camp. Much of the walk to the fly camp was across open plains and scrubland. Johnson, our guide, was very informative about the vegetation as well as bones, dung, insects and birds we passed along the way. We also learned a lot about the Masaai way of life which was very interesting.
Despite passing close to some buffalo at one point we felt very safe in the company of Johnson and Peter.
The fly camp was very comfortable with water provided for a bucket shower as well as a long drop loo. The food was perfect for an evening in the bush and it was interesting to see it being cooked on the fire. We slept very well.
On the way into Kicheche Bush Camp the next morning we passed a local village and watched as the cattle were driven out to graze, which highlighted the balance between wildlife conservation and local needs which the conservancies have to manage.
Since the fly camp is no longer half way between the two camps the afternoon walk might be off-putting if the weather is particularly hot, which is a shame. We thoroughly enjoyed it but Kicheche Valley camp were trying to talk us out of doing the full walk from the moment we arrived in camp. We were glad we were not deterred. The pleasure the guides take from being able to do the walking and share more of their knowledge rather than sitting in a vehicle for a change is great to experience.
The site of the camp itself was lovely - a beautiful secluded spot not far from the river and the walk in the morning was much more varied."

Kicheche Bush Camp
"Kicheche Bush Camp review"

"We were only briefly at Kicheche Bush Camp but we were warmly welcomed and the host Dido was very good. The camp practice of eating together at one table was very enjoyable.
The tents were very comfortable although I suspect some might be overly hot in the middle of the day as there is less shade than at Kicheche Valley."

"This is a very different experience from the other camps we stayed at.
The accommodation is rustic although comfortable and the bathrooms are open to the elements and would benefit from a slightly better shower arrangement.
The welcome was warm and the camp staff were all great.
The food is good solid "bush food".
This camp is made by the outstanding wildlife sitings, the guides we encountered and the ability to walk during the days and consequently have a completely different experience. We were guided by Barendt, Dan and Joseph. One of the many highlights was tracking a leopard that had made a kill overnight and finding the leopard asleep in the rocks - a very rare opportunity.
A great few days."

Good breakfast and smiling, polite, if somewhat disorganised, restaurant staff.
Absolutely fine for our purposes."
