My Jan 2023 trip
Kenya and 1 other country between 14 Jan 2023 and 28 Jan 2023
It was the most perfect time, with a combination of amazing hotels and being lucky to see a wide breadth of different wildlife.
We felt so lucky to be able to experience this and the hospitality shown by all the staff was next level, they really made you feel special"

The camp itself is in a wonderful location on a waterhole and can see a wide variety of game from your tents and on the veranda eating meals, and we were lucky that there was an elephant family which hung there the whole time.
The tents are incredibly luxurious and the food was absolutely outstanding, that it was always hard to turn down having extra.
We were here for our honeymoon and they went out of their way to make it extra special by arranging romantic meals and bush breakfasts in romantic settings.
Legei our guide, was fantastic, very knowledgeable, incredibly enthusiastic with an excellent sense of humour, who always made the drives interesting and fun. We were lucky to see a wide range of animals, including 2 different prides of lions and the rarity of a leopard, as well as managing to see the Northern 5. It is hard to believe that rhinos are endangered coming to Lewa Conservancy as they have done an excellent job protecting them, and we were fortunate to see a 3 week old baby.
This is a place which we would definitely come back and return to."

Mara Expedition Camp
"Mara Expedition Camp review"
The food was exceptional, having a variety of different foods including a bbq with local cuisine. In addition they have a chefs counter at the kitchen which you able to do one night, where you can watch the chefs cook and talk to them throughout which was a highly enjoyable experience.
The camp is located in a small acacia forest on top of a hill and so is relatively remote and quiet. It is on private land adjacent to the north part of the reserve, which does mean it takes a small amount of time getting into the reserve, however it was relatively quiet around the area which was a plus. It does also have access to Mara North Conservancy however this does take around 45-50 minute drive to get too.
Our guide Nancy was excellent, and showed great insight and patience to find the best viewings including that of two lion cubs. We were fortunate to be able to see a whole range of animals including a leopard and its cub, climbing into a tree with a kill and then hiding from hyenas. In addition we were surprised to have our own vehicle, which was very comfortable with great views throughout for the entire trip and was also able to make use of the camera and lens they have on site."

Xanadu Villas
"Xanadu Villas review"
All of the food was absolutely exceptional and they were very flexible with the menu and were happy to adjust things. It was nice having the option to dine in different locations whether on your sundeck, by the main pool or on the beach, though at times this was slightly too windy.
The beach is very pleasant to walk along down to see other resorts, and when it is low tide being able to do a reef walk was very interesting. The sea temperature was very warm, however unfortunately it was very windy during this period, so wasnt too pleasant to swim in due to the large amount of seaweed.
We went on a snorkelling trip, sunset cruise which were both very good, and it is nice that your butler comes out on the excursions with you, as it allows a closer bond to be formed. We also did a day trip to Stonetown which was very enjoyable but a long day with the driving.
Our butler Lissu was absolutely amazing, and on hand to sort everything out. It was a novel experience having a butler, and it really felt like he went above and beyond with his service.
Overall our time at Xanadu was fantastic and one of the best hotels we have stayed in. It made for the most peaceful relaxation following safari"
Hotel is clean, modern, comfy and has lovely staff. The breakfast buffet was tasty and wide ranging. Perfect stopover before starting the trip"
