Our Kenyan Adventure!

"We had the most amazing time!
So pleased with our choice of accommodation. Olivia (who moved on to pastures new after our trip was organised) gave thorough advice on safari camps taking into consideration our needs as a family. Thrilled with her recommendation of Kicheche Valley. We were looking at Hemingways at Watamu - a traditional beachside hotel, however wanting to be more adventurous she gently steered us towards Kinondo. So pleased she did.
Jessica became our point of contact. She was just as experienced, helpful and understanding answering questions. When BA cancelled our outbound flight she remained very calm and positive with her fretful client on the other end of the phone! All very much appreciated.
This was a trip to introduce the wonders of Africa to my husband and son. Safari was very much out of my husband’s comfort zone. Giraffe Manor had been on my bucket list for many years and we were celebrating a special wedding anniversary so he succumbed to persuasion.
It has been a life changing experience for him. He absolutely loved the whole experience of being on safari and says he left a little part of him in Kenya!
I’m thrilled that our Kenyan adventure was such a success, so many wonderful memories. We all fell in love with the country and its people.
So, if you’re reading this and thinking we’d like to go on safari but not sure if it’s for us … GO, you’ll have a wonderful time!

"I had yearned to stay at Giraffe Manor for many years. Our stay far exceeded my high expectations! It’s wonderful!
Everything about this hotel is special. The staff are friendly, professional and attentive. Chefs take great care and consideration with dietary requirements.
Feeding the giraffes really is a magical experience. Watching the giraffes gradually make their way towards the terrace to be fed and interacting with them for the first time was very special."

"What can we say … this camp is amazing! "

"What can we say … this camp is amazing! Minni is a wonderful host and lovely lady. Maurice and Nelson were brilliant - friendly, attentive, and very thoughtful. We were very well looked after.
The food is absolutely delicious and they went above and beyond making sure our a fussy teenager didn’t go hungry! Mika our guide was fantastic, he made the safari drives a wonderful experience. He’s a very special man.

The sighting form below doesn’t allow you to say how special some of our sightings were - the two baby giraffe, sitting in unison watching us, watching them waiting for Mum to return. Herds of elephants with babies of various ages at the waterhole. The two pride of lions with baby cubs a month old. Two male lions of the same pride together that we followed for a while - even Mika took a video as it was a very unusual sight. The storks that took flight when threatened by an eagle - an amazing spectacle to see over 40 storks take to the sky. We saw two types of kingfisher - have never seen a kingfisher in the uk! And lots more."

"Kinondo Kwetu is a little bit of paradise on the Kenya coast.
As you drive through the discreet wooden gates you are warmly welcomed and that welcome continues throughout your stay.
The staff are extremely friendly and hospitable. Nothing is too much trouble. Even though the meals were absolutely delicious, they catered very well for our fussy teenager. The accommodation is rustic but comfortable. The bedroom outdoor terraces are lovely.
Three beautiful days by the sea and a perfect end to our stay in Kenya."

BA cancelled our outbound flight so we extended our stay here for 2 nights. We ate in both restaurants - The Marketplace and Tazama. The Marketplace has a 24hr menu which is convenient when arriving on BA’s flight from Heathrow. We thought the food was excellent.
The breakfast buffet was fabulous! Service throughout the hotel was friendly and efficient. The only niggle we had was with housekeeping as no bath towels in either of the rooms when we arrived at night time."
