Zambia Green Season Review
Zambia between 21 Mar 2008 and 3 Apr 2008
The country, accomodation, wilderness and game viewing was excellent. The South Luangwa NP is good even in off season although on Easter holiday week with limited access some areas of the drives felt busy. It is so nice to see the park when it looks so pretty and the animals so healthy. We were continuously unlucky in missing wild dogs on 3 separate occassions but that is part of the addiction of safaris and why you always go on another one.
Expert Africa advised well and their outstanding level of knowledge of the area really helped to tailor a very good itinerary. Thanks."
Kapani Lodge
"Kapani Lodge review"
The rooms were bright and spacious. Being fed by mains electricity meant that the pool was larger than normal for a safari lodge, very clean and excellent for spending afternoons reading books.
The food is probably the outstanding feature of Kapani with excellent variety and choice."
Mchenja Bushcamp
"Mchenja Bushcamp review"
The general wilderness, privacy and peacefulness of the location is unsurpassable. The relaxed intimate nature of the camp, friendly staff and exceptionally knowledgeable guides made our 4 nights stay a wonderful experience."
Royal Livingstone Hotel
"Royal Livingstone Hotel review"
The food is excellent, the setting beautiful and the sunsets magical.
The RL is a very "American" hotel without the service to live up to it. The other major turn off was the price of wine which is very overpriced. The process of trying to obtain the information from the staff was often fruitless with constant one work answers... and the staff are looking for constantly looking for tips. The RL is frequented by many American guests in large organised trips so the independent traveller from the UK can find it a big strange in comparison to other, more traditional, African resorts.
That said, lazy days by the pool, an obligatory helicopter ride to see the falls properly, watching the sunset over the Zambezi and enjoying the fine food is no chore...."
