My Jul 2013 trip
Namibia and 1 other country between 17 Jul 2013 and 2 Aug 2013
Arranged By Tracy Lederer

Villa Violet
"Small and friendly"

Waterberg Camp
"Great location"
You might see a rock hyrax. Deer, baboons, mongooses all wandering between the lodges.
Long walk to restaurant (0.9 km from furthest lodges) but an interesting old building. Plenty of birds to see. Rooms comfortable and fridge provided with small kitchen area."

Okaukuejo Camp
"Moonlit rhinoceros"
The floodlit waterhole had a variety of animals each tIme we visited- evening was better than morning. We saw elephants, rhino, giraffes, jackels and various antelopes., The whole complex is quite large and holds 100s, but it is set out well and doesn't feel overcrowded. There are useful facilities like a post office, shop etc. Also a large washing machine and drier available in the camping area. Buffet food was good but not so great for vegetarians- like most of Namibia."

Mushara Bush Camp
"Mushara Bush Camp review"
It did not have the feel of some of the other tented lodges in Namibia where you were made personally at home by the owner or manager. It felt more like a hotel than a bush camp."

Kavango River Lodge (Not currently featured by Expert Africa)
"Good stopover with lovely views"
Rooms were good- typical hotel type. Internet was available, slow but usable. River trips were organised at a lodge about 30 minutes drive away along a dirt road, not from Kavango Lodge."

Divava Okavango Lodge & Spa
"Luxury by the river"
The small game reserve nearby- Mahango- was surprisingly good and we saw lots of wildlife in a few hours of slowly driving around. It was not busy, just a handful of other people there. The river trip is worth the effort, very relaxing and a nice sunset view over the local Popa Falls (more like small rapids than a waterfall).
Note that the Falls were inaccessible when we were there since a new government complex was in the process of being built there.
There was no opt out of the native dancing/singing- not everyone wants to see this. Food was generally good, but like many places they did not cater at all for vegetarians.
Internet available only in the reception area and like most connections in Namibia you can expect only the slowest of connections, but fast enough for our teenage sons to use Facebook etc."

Nkasa Lupala Tented Lodge
"Grunts in the night!"
Excursions were good and with knowledgeable guides but there was relatively little to see when we were there. Hippos at night around the tents were an added bonus, but this meant that you needed to be escorted between the main lodge area and the tents at night for safety reasons.
You need a 4WD to make the journey to the lodge alone, but there was a good pick up service with secure parking if needed."

Ichingo Chobe River Lodge
"Our favourite lodge"
The tents were comfortable with added brick built bathroom. Food was excellent with top quality vegetarian meals. Very flexible arrangements with guides to go for as long as you wish. Laundry service included.
Highly recommended."

Avani Victoria Falls
"Loved the wacky decor"
Rooms were not special, fairly basic. Main advantage was the free access to the falls and he ability to view the falls at different times of the day.
Helicopter trip recommended!"
Fastest WiFi we had in the whole of Namibia."
