"Car Hire by Bidvest. We ask for a car where all the windows wind completely down. As keen photographers this gives the window sill to steady the camera. Bidvest receptionist assured us that the Toyota Etios did this. The rear windows did not wind right down which meant trying to balance our long lenses on the edge of a pane of glass which also was rounded, hence a bit of a nightmare.
Basically we loved the trip but but the generator problem and the window problem detracted a little."

"Receptionist brilliant in getting us nine nights in one room (W9). Room kept spotless by maid.
Sadly the generator varied from inconsistent to non-existent which meant petrol pumps hardly worked and no water, only a problem with flushing. Also no means of paying by credit card. We suspect many people transferred to Halali and Namutoni.
Food was being thrown away in the little shop because it had thawed out. Sad"

Okaukuejo experienced a complete power out during these travellers stay and had to revert to running from a generator. Unfortunately this just was not able to cope with the demand on it so Namibia Wildlife Resorts (who own Okaukuejo) moved some of their visitors to other camps to relieve the strain. They apologise for any inconvenience caused during this period.

"We did not stay at Plains Camp but did have a quick look. Style is different to the African style of Bush Camp but would be comfortable.

"The Bush Chalet was good but the location of Waterhole Chalet was great. The receptionist did well getting us into Waterhole chalet 9 for all six nights.
Staff very friendly,smiley and competent. Rooms clean and bedding very good. Did not want to leave.

"Returned since last year we had an enjoyable walking safari with Caracal cat,wanted to do the same with cheatah this year but it was not on offer.
30 km drive from the main road seemed to go on for ever but the dirt road was good,not sure what would have happen if it had rained. Staff did a great job cleaning the car inside and out. Not sure we would return.
Evening meal average but cheese salad packed lunch fantastic."

"All worked out very well. Toyota Corolla was perfectly adequate, the two passes have new surfaces so no trouble,most dirt roads very good but two sections on Klein Aus to Sesriem corrugated.
Discovered at Solitaire we had lost our oil filler cap but mechanic fixed a temporary repair which lasted for the remaining 2500km.
Disappointed the Budget office in Walvis Bay shut since wanted to talk about the cap.

"Went to photograph the conflict between seals and jackals but no jackals at the colony although saw one at the lodge water point.

"Reception switched our room to W10, one of the four best round the waterhole. This year was lion year, saw many but no kills.
The room was kept immaculate by our room girl. Take away breakfasts were always ready on time so we could get into the park when the gate opened. Enjoyed evening meals. Little shop had everything we needed."

"27 km off the main road but a good choice for the airport. Staff friendly and helpful. Garden lad washed our filthy car to make it look like new.
All animals seen on game activities were in very good health and well looked after. Felt activities were a bit pricey but they have a lot of animals to look after. First time we have taken a Caracal for a walk, lovely."
