Ruaha National Park

Ruaha is Tanzania’s largest national park.

It offers guided walking safaris...

...where you might spot some of the park’s fantastic birdlife...

...as well as a good amount of wildlife.

Ruaha is known for its dramatic scenery, including rolling hills...

...and open plains with skeletal baobab trees.

Ruaha’s wild and untrammelled feel sets it apart from other reserves.

"A fabulous safari"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 22 Sep 2008 and 7 Oct 2008
"The safari part of our trip was excellent. Pole Pole was a little disappointing - quality and too long at the resort. Expert Africa should not use Beyt al Chai until it is refurbished.

We are very impressed with Exprt Africa itself. All staff very helpful and concerned that we have an enjoyable holiday (which we did).

Information provided pre deprture very comprehensive and helpful. Terrific web-site which was one of the factors that convinced us to use EA. We really felt they knew what they were talking about." Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 12 on a Tanzania safari

"East Africa - what a great place for safari"

I visited Zanzibar and 1 other country between 20 Sep 2008 and 7 Oct 2008
"Our trip was incredible; a trip of a lifetime which was exactly what we wanted for our honeymoon.

The trip was really well balanced between safari (6 days/2 camps) and beach (8 days) - altough we could very easily have done another 2 or 3 days safari at the end, having had a short break from it to recuperate!

Suggestions for improvement:

The advice we were given was excellent and the trip was great!" Read full review: 17 nights in Africa; 10 on a Zanzibar holiday

"Unforgettable!!"

I visited Tanzania between 18 Sep 2008 and 28 Sep 2008
"We had the most amazing trip.

Expert Africa lives up to it's name. Expert in the help and advice we were given when planning this trip. Expert in booking and making all the necessary arrangements, which went very smoothly, and expert in picking out superb camps for us to stay at. We are not quite sure how we got an upgrade at Sand Rivers, but thank you anyway, it was wonderful.

We had the pleasure of meeting and spending some of our game drives at Mwagusi with Marushka and Peter, who were on a fact finding trip for Expert Africa. We hope that we were able to give them some of our impressions of Mwagusi at the time." Read full review: 10 nights in Africa; 9 on a Tanzania safari

"A fantasitc trip. I really can't fault it.

Beautiful and contrasting places to stay with universally friendly staff and amazing wildlife encounters that I'm sure we will still be talking about in many years to come!

Extremely efficient organisation meant all we had to do was enjoy! Thinking of our next trip already!

Thank you.

"Fantastic"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 6 Sep 2008 and 19 Sep 2008
"Expert Africa got it right every time.

We did everything in the right order and their advice really made a big difference. It was worthwhile using Expert Africa, Other independent travellers did not always seem to get the same quality of experience that we got.

The entire trip was the best we've ever had and we are quite used to travelling in the developing world." Read full review: 13 nights in Africa; 8 on a Tanzania safari

"A honeymoon to remember"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 11 Aug 2008 and 26 Aug 2008
"We really feel we had the best honeymoon we could have done, and are so glad we chose Tanzania, and Expert Africa to help us achieve this. Ellie really listened to what kind of an experience we wanted, all her recommendations were true to what she'd said, and suited us in terms of what we'd asked for, and our budget.

Going on safari is expensive, and we were initially quite taken aback at how much it does cost - however we could both see where our money had gone in terms of accomodation, food, guiding and ambience of the places we stayed. I don't think you would get that at bigger camps or on a more budget trip, so we were glad we balanced the safari part with the beach part - it's good you can do this.

It was a great choice to visit both Selous and Ruaha as the terrain is very different, and so was the difference in how close you could get to the animals - the ones at Selous, especially zebra, were more skittish than at Ruaha due to it being a game reserve as opposed to a national park.

We would definitely use Expert Africa again - we're already dreaming about coming back during migration to the Lamai wedge! and have already recommended you to some of our friends wanting to go on safari.

Thanks for getting things right for us, we had a great time in a beautiful and friendly country.

"How many holidays of a lifetime can i have?"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 17 Jul 2008 and 1 Aug 2008
"Nothing much to add to all the comments here. We all enjoyed the holiday throughout. Such a range of experiences!
I think overall the standard of accommodation at Selous and Pongwe was 'under=-sold' and the quality of the food was higher than we expected.

Only thing we didn't think was worth it was trip to Prison Island, which we organised ourself- but it was quite an overcast and choppy day so we ducked out of the snorkelling which might have added to it.

Also I think the advice against taking travellers cheques should be rather more strongly stated; although we were able to cash them directly for dollars in Stonetown we did have to do a bit of shopping around and quite a high commission rate. I'm not sure we would have any success with sterling.

Suggestions for improvement:

Nothing to add to the various comments above. We will certainly speak positively of Expert Africa and recommend to anyone looking for a similar experience." Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 7 on a Tanzania safari
