"Chada fly-camping review"

1 night Arrived 31 Jul 2021
"While fly-camping is a more rustic experience than the main camp, you will not feel like you are on your own in the wilderness as a half dozen staff members spend the night at the same campsite to keep you safe and to tend to your every need.

Fly-camping, however, did give us the opportunity to visit a more remote area of the park and provided fantastic stargazing. As the guides do not eat dinners with guests at the main camp, fly-camping allowed us to dine with our guide and learn about his life in Tanzania. He also gave us a very interesting overview of Tanzanian lore regarding the constellations above.

Though we did not hear any animals during the night, there were fresh lion tracks by the camp in the morning. And the path to the bush shower was a borrowed hippo track that was closed to its usual nocturnal traffic with lanterns.

As for our accommodations, we slept on very comfortable mattresses on the ground inside a cubic tent with enough height to get dressed while standing up. The all-mesh tent was wonderful for looking up at the night sky, but did not provide much privacy. Also, if one needs to use the bathroom frequently during the night, be advised that you will have to signal the nearby scout with a flashlight to escort you to the bush toilet each time." "Chada fly-camping review"

1 night Arrived 6 Aug 2019
"This is a wonderful experience and a "must-do" in Katavi. Some of my favourite bush experiences of the past have been sleeping in small tents as wildlife wanders by. This maintains that feel but is so much more. Lying under a mosquito net looking at the stars as lion and hyena sound out the night is one thing but the bush meal, campfire and breakfast add to the experience.

Initially I was questioning why it cost more money to add on the fly-camping but this is fly-camping with a difference - discretely accompanying you are a team consisting of your guide, a chef, a waiter, a housekeeper, a scout and the park ranger, ensuring that the same standard of service in the main base is replicated whilst being very safe.

The highlight of our safari adventures overall was seeing 6 lion up a tree as dusk was settling in shortly before arriving at our fly-camp spot." See all these reviews: 17n in Tanzania

"Tents were very comfortable, except not rainproof, just fly netting; and rain it did, resulting in a scramble for tarps midnight." See all these reviews: 9n in Tanzania

"One of the most impressive experience in Katavi. I love beautiful landscape, a lot of hippos, buffalloes, birds, dinner in the bush...
Sleeping in the small tent with matress was comfortable. I'd love to go there again." See all these reviews: 10n in Tanzania

"Chada fly-camping review"

2 nights Arrived 21 Sep 2008
"This is a real African experince not to be missed. There is nothing better than being in the bush, in the dark with the noises of the night, good company and excellent food. This may not be everyones cup of tea, but if you can manage to sleep on an extremely comfortable camp matress and deal with a very clean long drop toilet, this is an experience you should not miss.

The staff at Chada make this a great couple of nights and it is the only time I have had a hot lunch deliveredd to me while watching leopard." See all these reviews: 10n in Tanzania; 1n in Kenya
