"The Last Word Franschhoek review"
The room was huge, with absolutely everything we needed and bathroom enormous. It was extremely comfortable, though we weren’t quite sure about returning from dinner to find pots of crème brulee waiting for us! Breakfast was an extensive spread with cooked available if required.
Franschhoek gets very busy in the South African summer so it is well worth investigating and booking restaurants and/or the Wine Tram beforehand. It’s a lovely little town but there are a lot of tourists so be prepared for queues if you haven’t pre-booked.
This is another place we’re returning to next year!" See all these reviews: 17n in South Africa
"Like The Tardis!"
Breakfast was lovely and the nightly 'treats' a self indulgent end to the day. The provision of complementary drinks in the room and lounge were a real bonus. The staff were very friendly and helpful with the evening restaurant bookings. There was an excellent map in the room showing the wineries and eateries in the surrounding area.
Franschhoek is very safe to wander and it is a lovely little town with plenty to offer. We enjoyed The Huguenot Museum and the one at Solms Delta where we also had a delicious lunch." See all these reviews: 17n in South Africa
"The Last Word Franschhoek review"
We loved both the hotel and Franschhoek. Conrad is an excellent host and concierge, booking exactly the kind of restaurants That we like for us for both evenings.
Our room was spacious and comfortable. The only slightly negative comment was the open plan bathroom, with the bath directly opposite the door to the room. I had to remind my husband to keep the door shut on a couple of occasions!" See all these reviews: 10n in South Africa; 4n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe
"Luxury in the Winelands"
Our host, Conrad, made us feel genteelly at home. He helped with all aspects of our visit to Franschoek--dinner reservations, wineries, etc. Our rooms were so beautiful that we took photographs. In the heart of town, walking distance to fine restaurants, but quiet and secluded. First class service from all the staff, and delicious breakfast." "The Last Word Franschoek"
We had dinner at The Tasting Room and it was superb and one we will repeat next year with our group. What we would like to add next year is a winery visit with an excellent presentation about wine making and a tasting. We had lunch at The Post Card Cafe at a winery near Stellenbosch which was a magical setting on the lawn of the winery overlooking mountains. We will repeat this next year as well. We also will arrange a meeting with friends at Stellenbosch University for a morning while we are there and maybe combine that with lunch at The Post Card Cafe." "The Last Word Franschoek review"
On arriving we were rather bombarded with information about the facilities and room - the basics would have been enough - we can always ask if we have a problem. The location on the main street, whilst close to shops and restaurants, meant a fair bit of noise if you were sitting on your patio. Parking space is a little tight.
Excellent breakfast, so much to choose from and I can't say no even when I'm full." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia; 9n in South Africa
"The Last Word Franschoek review"
Room was beautiful and we stayed over my birthday so that night they lit candles and left champagne in our room. Franschoek was a lovely little town and the vineyards in the area were excellent. A perfect centre to do wine and food." See all these reviews: 9n in South Africa
