"I can't believe that a trip this complex went off without a hitch.
Expert Africa really knows their stuff and made great recommendations. Thanks, Tracy!"

Chobe Game Lodge
"Elephants galore!"

"Four star accommodation, but Five star game viewing. Located right in Chobe Park, so no waiting in line at the entrance gate. Visiting in the dry season worked out well, because the animals congregated at the river and the brush wasn't dense enough to hide them.
Lodge is a true all-inclusive, even personal laundry service is free. Furnishings are slightly worn and the rooms a bit dated, so not ultra-posh, but still a great experience.
The schedule is busy. On arrival day we had a sunset river cruise. Subsequent days had a pre-dawn game drive, a mid-day cruise, and a late afternoon drive, each lasting over two hours. We tended to stay with the same small group of people, who shared our arrival and departure date--the drives and cruises have a maximum of 12 guests in each group.
The game guides are all women, but I think we had the best. "RB" was friendly and a real pro, both on land and water. Several times she was the one who located leopards or lions and radioed the other guides."

Radisson Blu Hotel Waterfront
"Waterfront modern luxury"
2 nights

"Beautiful views of Table Bay. Our business class room was enormous. Modern hotel with stunning architecture: a huge window at one end of the building frames Table Mountain for all the hallways.
Helpful, friendly staff. Convenient restaurant with good food. Giant breakfast buffet, catering to all tastes (both crispy and British bacon!), included with room price.
Not really walking distance to the V and A waterfront, but a short, inexpensive taxi ride to there and almost everywhere else."

"Possibly the nicest place we have ever stayed. Similar to the Inn at Little Washington in Virginia.
Our host, Conrad, made us feel genteelly at home. He helped with all aspects of our visit to Franschoek--dinner reservations, wineries, etc. Our rooms were so beautiful that we took photographs. In the heart of town, walking distance to fine restaurants, but quiet and secluded. First class service from all the staff, and delicious breakfast."

Our room had a beautiful enclosed riverfront porch and all the amenities. Each group of rooms had a day and an evening butler to help with anything and everything. Experienced a classic high tea overlooking the falls, but that was overshadowed by a delicious gracious dinner."
