"Overall a good choice"

4 nights Arrived 27 Feb 2017
"We enjoyed our time at Lairds Lodge. We were not too happy with the family room originally allocated but agreed to occupy it for the first night. We were then moved to a much nicer (superior) room with a fine garden view (the initial room, no. 4, looked on to a wall). Breakfasts were very good and staff were very helpful and attentive.

I have 2 negative comments:

1) there was almost always background music playing in the public areas, including at breakfast. This became rather irritating and was to my mind unnecessary.

2) we had dinner on our first night which was very good, however the choice is minimal (one main course plus a vegetarian option). I suspect that not so many guests choose to dine here for this reason.

Given that the alternative involves a drive into Plettenberg Bay, I would have thought that the hotel could widen its offering and therefore attract more clients." See all these reviews: 16n in South Africa

"A bit of a let down"

2 nights Arrived 11 Apr 2016
"The lodge wasn’t quite what we were excepting. We had paid for the upgraded room which was in an out building at the back of the property. The room seemed new although the furnishing seemed out of place.

There seemed to be a slightly strange atmosphere with the staff and when asking why the wi fi didn't work in our room we were told to stand outside and it would work.

The bathroom window was also left open by the cleaner so by the time we returned in the evening from a day out we were eaten alive by mosquitoes.

The breakfast was ok but the lady asking what our plans were for the day acted like she was on commission for us to go to certain restaurants or places of interest.

It wasn't the kind of place we were looking for on our honeymoon." See all these reviews: 11n in South Africa
