"This was a delightful trip to do, although having experienced the Gorillas the day before in a group of 8, we were a little unlucky to be in a much larger group for the Golden Monkeys - 16 or more.

The Golden Monkeys themselves were active as a group and wonderful too watch in a sceninc bamboo grove, which is only a short hike.

"This is a short hike through the farmland and is well worth the trip. The trek was timed. So that many monkeys were in the potato fields gathering food. There was approximately 30 all sizes running around us. Very cool." Read more about this whole safari

"This experience was a great warm up to the Gorilla trekking we had booked for the next day. The trek was not intense although we still engaged a Porter at the beginning of the trek to support the community - as advised to do by both Expert Africa and our guide, Aimable.

You are given ample time to experience the abundance of Golden Monkeys in their natural habitat, whether sitting and playing in the trees or scavenging for potatoes in nearby fields.

We were not advised that we needed to wear a protective facemask prior to heading out on this trek and missed out on around 7 minutes of viewing the Golden Monkeys waiting for someone to bring us a mask.

"This was an excellent "warm-up" for the gorilla trek we did the next day.

I was somewhat skeptical beforehand about this excursion, but this turned into an excellent opportunity to see golden monkeys at close range, and also to have a "dry run" of common elements with the gorilla trek: wake up and move-out, equipment, and acclimating to the altitude.
