"Ruzizi Tented Lodge review"

3 nights Arrived 18 Jul 2022
"Extremely comfortable and well run. Lovely position on the lakeside.

We enjoyed the sounds of Africa at night - hyenas whooping, baboons alarming and hippos munching on the lawn outside the tent.

The food was good, fresh cooked and with choices at every meal." See all these reviews: 12n in Rwanda

"Ruzizi Tented Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 10 Oct 2016
"A small, attractive tented lodge toward the southern end of Akagera National Park. A beautiful lakeside location amid the plains of eastern Rwanda. Consistent with a low-impact approach to lodging, rather basic but entirely adequate facilities. Simple but comfortable tents. Dining on a deck overlooking beautiful Lake Ihema. Yummy meals cooked in the coals of the central fire pit and served buffet style. A small number of tents makes for a small number of guests and contributes to a sense of intimacy. Fine, attentive service.

Game in the Park was somewhat lacking, other than hippos. The game we did see was congregated toward the northern part of the Park, which necessitated in a long day of driving to and from the Lodge. The views from the western ridge of the Park toward the chain of lakes below are really spectacular.

The Park is several hours by vehicle east of Kigali (the point from which travel to any other part of Rwanda commences), so that any trip which involves travel from the Lodge to a location other than Kigali will almost certainly require a full day's drive. The roads in Rwanda are quite good, but some might find a long day's drive in Rwanda very taxing." See all these reviews: 12n in Rwanda; 7n in Mozambique; 1n in South Africa

"Beautiful stay at Akagera Park"

3 nights Arrived 16 Jun 2016
"This was my first stop on my first trip to Africa. I had been warned that service standards might not be very high in Rwanda, but I didn't find that to be the case here at all. I had a spacious, private, very clean tent. The setting was amazing. I loved seeing the vervet moneys along the boardwalk. Food was very good as well.

The game viewing at Akagera was better than I had been led to believe. I saw elephant, giraffe, many buffalo, hippos, and crocs. The last day I managed to see a lion as well, no small task as there are only 14. I hadn't really known what to expect, but the experience was outstanding." "Outstanding location."

2 nights Arrived 7 Jun 2016
"A delightful tented lodge. Having breakfast by the Lake in the early morning and at the same location for dinner by the light of an open fire is wonderful.

All the staff are friendly and couldn't be more helpful. Good wildlife and you will never forget the number of hippos close by. Easy access to other parts of Akagera National Park. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here.

It was not a problem for me but I think that mosquito nets over the bedding arrangements should be considered in the future particularly as the camp is so close to water." See all these reviews: 12n in Rwanda

"Ruzizi Tented Camp review"

1 night Arrived 18 Sep 2014
"Only wish we had had longer here! A long day's drive from Nyungwe Forest Lodge, but that was our choice.

Location of the tented camp was wonderful - breakfast at 5.30am with the sun rising and the weaver birds and kingfishers over the lake, truly magical!" See all these reviews: 11n in Rwanda
