"Brilliant safari experience"
The food was terrific, the overall service excellent, and the activities very exciting. We enjoyed our afternoon radio tracking a leopard. The accommodation is just unbelievable - we had panoramic windows out onto the plains, with jackals and springbok pottering past our veranda, and warthogs attempting to steal our breakfast." "Motel with leopards"
Everything is on a grand scale; the rooms are huge, the dining room is huge, the distance between is huge - we had to drive between them.
The camp itself is in a central area within the reserve. The central area has some wildlife but nothing considered dangerous. It was nice to lie in bed with a view of animals from the picture window at the foot of the bed.
We went on a leopard viewing trip and did see a leopard. But, viewing a collared leopard in an enclosed reserve felt more like visiting a zoo." See all these reviews: 20n in Namibia
"Okonjima Plains Camp"
The meals were excellent; we had one dinner on the outside deck and one in the dining room. Our final meal was a superb packed breakfast which we picked up at 6am as we headed for Windhoek airport.
It must be disappointing for the Africat folks to have to put their cheetah program on hold." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia; 1n in South Africa
"Leopards spotted!"
Enjoyed both the drives we did although sponsorship for was rammed down your throats a bit too much but can put up with that to then see the cheetahs.
The morning leopard tracking drive was fantastic in that we saw both a male and female leopard." See all these reviews: 9n in Namibia
"Okonjima Plains Camp review"
We did the Leopard tracking, and enjoyed it as a sundowner tour. The tracking itself was interesting, and we managed to find a leopard. As photographers it was just ok. The tracking collar took away from the photos, but we did enjoy the drive, and a beautiful sunset." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia
"good"
However, excursion to cheeta's in enclosure was interesting but not the real thing mostly a reason for a contribution to Afri Cat which we would have been happy to give anyway. .
Story of cheetahs very sad ie cant be released into the park as the leopards kill them all as rivals for prey." See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia
"Okonjima Plains Camp review"
Our standard room was very good with a nice view across the bush and very well equipped. We don’t see the benefit of a View room.
We went on one of the three walks which was well signposted and a good opportunity to see some animals on foot rather than from a vehicle." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia
"Okonjima Plains Camp review"
It was obviously of some concern to the staff though that no photographs which showed animals in enclosures were taken. We're not sure why if everything was as above-board as it appeared to be!" See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia
"Wow. Wow. Wow."
The rooms are fantastic, with a panoramic view while you are laid in bed of the wildlife area. Ours was a standard room, so I have no idea what the people got extra for their extra money. The bathroom is huge and you are provided with everything that you need. The food was excellent, Well Presented by friendly and attentive waiters.
This is well worth the 25 km from the main road to get here.
We went on 2 organised game drives, one that included a sundowner and one the following day, when we saw the Leopard." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia
"Quite an experience at Okonjima Plains Camp"
The main attractions at Okonjima are the cheetah and leopards, which we hoped to see on our afternoon and morning drives. Our South African guide Jordi was passionate about the work done by Africat and he proved to be an amazing guide, expressing a personal relationship he had with the animals. He did, in fact, lead us to one of the leopards within an hour of starting to track it.
He provided us with clear and concise information about the work done by the foundation and the relationship it has with the country's farming community.
The meals were of very high standard and dining room service was excellent" See all these reviews: 22n in Namibia; 6n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe
