"worth the drive to see the view"
The only negative comment is the bed - it really creaked so you would wake yourself up every time you moved.
The food was good but could do with a few tweaks. Not good to put yoghurts in lunch packs that are not going to be eaten until midday in temperatures 0f 30 to 40 degrees. Just means they are all thrown away." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia
"Wonderful lodge in stark surroundings"
"great place to see the canyon"
Rooms are fairly stark but clean and well kept and in cool weather have no additional heating. The whole set up is more suited to hot weather. The wind at night is well known and the ear-plugs (provided) are necessary at times.
Really enjoyed an impromptu 'concert' by all the staff one evening after dinner
There appears to be a lack or consistent and visible management. We were not offered a welcome refreshment when others arriving that afternoon clearly were.Individual members of staff were outstanding...Charlie deserves a mention.
The wine list was poor many items missing...no Angusura bitters!
Lodge shop very poorly stocked and disappointing" See all these reviews: 5n in Namibia; 5n in South Africa
"Mega Place everyone should stay here!"
"Wonderful place"
I would particularly like to mention my guide, Ben, who was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the area, was a charming companion on the expeditons I went on with him, and, when I lost a hat on an expedition, went out of his way to find it and make sure it caught up with me later on my trip.
I would also like to say that the room, and in particular the view from it, was fabulous. My only criticism would be that the access track from the road was terrible. I do think that for such a very good lodge they should do something to level it out/grade it." See all these reviews: 20n in Namibia

I also felt the activities were a little misleading. The 1/2 day canyon walk was infact an extremely taxing, rock climbing trek down into the canyon which could take up to 6 hours. This would leave you little time and energy to return to the top of the canyon in one day." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

Food and wine were extremely good, especially given the remote location of the property. Our room was very spacious, and the outdoor shower was nice and worked better than the indoor one. Plenty of room for luggage." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia

"Fish River Lodge review"
We spent quite a few hours sat on our balcony, drinking, overlooking the canyon. Simply lovely. The staff were extremely helpful & considering how remote the lodge is the food was excellent. We went on a drive in the morning with PJ down into the canyon & it was a real highlight. Do not miss. PJ was an excellent guide & is a real asset. We swam in a rock pool, which was freezing even though it was extremely hot outside & then sat by the pool & had lunch.
We are so glad we did drive this far south because the canyon & the lodge is a definite must in our book." See all these reviews: 20n in Namibia
