"Our favourite lodge."

2 nights Arrived 6 Oct 2014
"The lodge is situated in a strange area of the Erongo mountains which resemble huge mounds of pebbles. Again, because we only had a 2-wheel drive vehicle, we had to leave our car at the foot of the mountains and be transported by safari truck up to our accommodation. We loved our 'tented' chalet which was large and luxurious and with an open-air bathroom.

The main building is built in a rustic style and decorated with local artefacts. There is a large bar area with a well-stocked bar and the terraced restaurant has views over a small water-hole as well as over the surrounding mountains with huge rocks seemingly poised to fall at any moment. But the piece de resistance is the cuisine! We had fantastic meals splendidly served on tables lit only by solar-powered lamps which allowed us to appreciate the marvellous sunsets.

We spent the day wandering round the surrounding area which is marked out in various walks. We could have gone on some walks with an experienced guide but the idea of scaling some of the surrounding peaks did not appeal to us!" See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Erongo wilderness lodge, life on the rocks!"

2 nights Arrived 4 Oct 2014
"Such a fabulous setting it is always a pleasure to return, the tents are great , the food delicious and hospitality good.it is an easy and relaxed place to stay, the staff and guides are very informative.

Would have been nice if there had been an alternate morning walk available on our second day,for one not so able to scale the rocks though!" See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 30 Sep 2014
"This is a nicely situated camp, with the rooms located high up in the rocks. The rooms themselves are nice and comfortable, but the mosquito nets do not draw shut and there are mosquitoes in the camp, and in your own open-air shower.

The food here is excellent, among the best we had, and the staff are really lovely, in the restaurant and the guides. The scenery is similar to Damaraland, beautiful but not a revelation if you've already been up north. There isn't a great deal to do here, to be honest - there is practically no game, and the drive in the park is badged (accurately) as more of a nature drive than a game drive. - but we did see dik dik (quite tame), and a klipspringer or two high up in the rocks. There is a nice cave to visit with interesting early paintings.

The early morning hill climb is quite strenuous but a nice way to work up an appetite for the fabulous breakfast on your return to camp at 9.30 am. There are large numbers of rosy-faced lovebirds just outside the dining area. Dinner is taken outside on the terrace, at separate tables, and is great fun. Retire afterwards to the enormous boma for drinks with your fellow guests. If you're flying out of windhoek in the later afternoon or evening, it should be possible to stay just one night here and fit in both evening and morning activities.

Overall, this is a really nice camp, one of the best, and it was so nice for once to find a management team who were present, took an interest in their guests, and helped manage your stay. This style of active management was absent from all other camps on our trip." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Incredible place"

1 night Arrived 20 Sep 2014
"Wow. One isn't quite sure what to expect as you pull up at the bottom of the hill to be met and transported up to the lodge but what an incredible place awaits you. the lodge manager gives you a personal welcome and talks you through the set up and other activities.

The rooms are simply incredible. Huge tented chalets with excellent appointments, big balconies and even a day bed outside. The view from each chalet is wonderful.

Meals are taken in the main building, from which the view is also amazing. We dined outside with a view across to a floodlit waterhole and had a superb meal accompanied by first class wine and service to match. It was a shame we only stayed here one night." "Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 11 Sep 2014
"Main differentiator here is the early morning walks (with Kules) to see mainly birds and also wildlife eg locusts, mongoose, dassies but no game.

Restaurant service here was excellent.

Not the best place to stay if you have trouble climbing up and down steps and slopes to your room and to the restaurant." See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia

"Erongo was as spectacular as we had hoped"

2 nights Arrived 5 Sep 2014
"We had a lovely welcome and all the staff and guides were excellent, friendly and helpful. The room was fantastic with a view of the mountains, all the activities and walks were well organised and very interesting.

Highlights were the sun downer walk and the visit to the cave paintings. All the food was of a very high standard and eating dinner out under the stars by the fire pit was memorable.

Overall a wonderful experience." See all these reviews: 23n in Namibia; 9n in Botswana

"Top range lodge located in a stunning setting"

1 night Arrived 26 Aug 2014
"The lodge is beautifully built into the surrounding mountains. The chalets were comfortable and spacious with large terraces. The staff were polite and friendly. The meals were delicious and the breakfast was served in a very customer friendly manner. The lodge is very much worth a visit.

The only issue was that as this was our last overnight stop before the return flight, we did not get to enjoy the fantastic location and the facilities as much as we would have wished. We did not take part in any activities organized by the lodge for the same reason.

We also felt that the lodge is too far from the airport to be a last stop in any itinerary." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"

3 nights Arrived 14 Aug 2014
"I think this was our favourite camp overall.
We loved the location and views from the three different seating areas that we had at our tent. The elevated position of the tents with none overlooking another was great.
Food was superb and staff very cheerful and helpful. Dining area and bar deck are in a great elevated position overlooking hills, bird feeder and waterhole.

Guided walks were good with knowledgable guides and a good pace.

Self guided 'map' very poor. Needs to be improved with more information on length of each walk and how they are way marked. We abandoned one as could not find pointers and made up our own walk on obvious trails.

Minor point; linen was looking shabby with small holes in bed sheets and towels but they were clean." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia
