Satao Camp: picture gallery

Satao Camp is a traditional camp in a shady grove along the Voi River in Tsavo East.
The camp is unfenced…
…and you can expect a lot of close encounters with the area's wildlife…
…and very good birdwatching.
The main dining and lounge area is shady and comfortable, with lots of atmosphere.
There's also a popular outdoor area where lunch is usually eaten…
…under a grove of tamarind trees…
…where impalas often gather ("for protection from the lions" you'll be told by staff).
The standard tents are spacious and welcoming…
…quite simply furnished…
…in traditional, safari camp style…
…with the addition of floor fans (Tsavo East can be very warm at night).
The bathrooms are accessed through a flap at the back of the bedroom.
The bathrooms are rustic and practical, with plenty of space…
…and the traditional 'bucket showers', filled to order by staff, are in use.
Satao's 'suite' tents are better furnished…
…with recliners on their verandas…
…fridges stocked with drinks at regular Satao bar prices…
…and solid walls and doors between the bathrooms and the bedrooms.
Some of the suite bathrooms have bathtubs, and more of a designer feel.
