"Elephant Bedroom review"
The camp is rather more luxurious than we would normally choose, but was a welcome extravagance after a trip to Northern Kenya. The camp is run by Joseph and his team with seemingly effortless efficiency. The staff were conscientious and diligent and looked after us well.
The rooms are very spacious, clean, and beautifully presented and the plunge pool a welcome treat. Given the conditions of being in the bush, the food was generally excellent.
A point to note: The monkeys are experienced sneak thieves and not easily discouraged. Be on your guard and be VERY assertive." See all these reviews: 7n in Kenya

Saw more then we expected - including a pride of lions killing warthogs." See all these reviews: 8n in Kenya
"Wow"
What a welcome we had with loads of elephants in the camp (apologies to the staff on our welcome as we were engrossed in watching them)
Can't fault anything here, safari excellent, staff excellent, food excellent.
Safari guide Julius was phenomenal." See all these reviews: 14n in Kenya
"Elephant Bedroom review"
The communal area was nice, we enjoyed eating lunch by the river and on the main decking at dinner time. They had a good range of drinks available to purchase. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
This was one of only two places we stayed where we had a choice at meal times which was a nice treat. Unfortunately I wouldn't say the food is amazing. As a vegetarian I was quite disappointed with the options for the evening meal. Lunch and breakfast were better but not great. The meat main meals were slightly better but nothing to write home about.
We were really happy with our guide Julius, who seemed very experienced and knowledgeable. He was very friendly and easy to get along with. We really enjoyed our safaris with him and even saw the only leopard of the trip. Compared with Kicheche camp where we stayed next you get a lot less jeep time here as you only go out in the morning for a short while as they bring you back to camp for breakfast. The sundowner was great, at a really nice location. We were given the option of a double double or triple triple shot in our pina colada. It seems they do one every second night so depending on when you arrive you get either one or two sundowners.
We've been told that Samburu isn't as good as other place in Kenya for game viewing which may be true (although we did see a leopard here) but we would definitely visit Samburu and Elephant Bedroom again for the proximity and amount of elephants in the area. They are everywhere you turn!" See all these reviews: 15n in Kenya
"Great safari. "
The game drives were good and we saw an abundance of elephants and giraffes.
The wildlife spotting opportunities in camp were great.
The accommodation was overall excellent, the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms/tents superb. My only criticism was the food; perfectly edible but not inspiring." See all these reviews: 9n in Kenya
"Excellent camp"
Joseph is very good and makes you feel welcome and Anthony (who we had for a second year in a row) is an excellent guide. He tunes in quickly to what the group wants.
Highly recommended." See all these reviews: 10n in Kenya

"Lovely riverside location"
Peaceful with animals very close, including elephant! Lovely outlook over river.
Guided by Anthony, an affable young man with very good English. Lovely sightings of a caracal (cat family) and greater kudu. Would have liked the option of a longer morning safari with a picnic breakfast." See all these reviews: 8n in Kenya; 4n in Zanzibar
"the Magnificent Elephant Bedroom"
My guide James was fantastic, really went out of his way to make sure you saw as much as possible, and very knowledgable.
Beautiful food, lots of choice, and the rooms were lovely.
I really enjoyed my stay here so much that I am thinking of returning next year.
Heaps of beautiful elephants !" See all these reviews: 8n in Kenya
"Elephant Bedroom without a river"
My dignified Game Drive Guide in his tribal dress was very good and besides seeing leopards, elephants and lions we also watched a pregnant lioness tracking a young zebra one morning and found her in the afternoon beside her half eaten kill that she had placed in a bush shelter. During the next two drives we saw her in the same place.
One morning we were watching a lazing leopard when a young bull elephant arrived and began feeding near the leopard; result: 2 of the Big 5 in one shot!
Unfortunately the river was dry and consequently the crocodiles had left and gone into hibernation. Also the ostriches had left the area and I did not get my one chance to see their blue legs. However on my second day the elephants began to arrive and from my verandah I watched a bull elephant place his tusks each side of the doum palm that was growing about four yards from my tent and vigorously shake the palm until he was showered with its fruits, My next visitor was a dwarf mongoose who stood on its back legs to peep at me over the edge of the verandah. The monkeys and baboons were, of course, the usual opportunists and a regular 'lookout' was mostly on duty to keep them away from the diner.
One morning towards the end of a Drive we suddenly found ourselves in a shady grove that had been set up as a diner with tables and chairs and all the kitchen equipment ready to cook whatever the guests required. This was a pleasant meal which I shall remember.
The next surprise was a Sundowner for ALL the guests with staff serving the food that was being kept hot until the Sun set.
Overall I enjoyed my experiences at Elephant Bedroom with its luxurious tent accommodation. Even the extremely strong winds filling everything with red dust was an experience.
During my third morning at the campsite I was relaxing on my verandah when I was suddenly disturbed by a Drone hovering about ten yards in front me - am I being unreasonable to believe that this was an intrusion/invasion of my privacy?" See all these reviews: 14n in Kenya
