"Lovely camp but not for green seasons"

3 nights Arrived 27 Nov 2019
"There had been a lot of rain during the time of our visit so the thick vegetation prevented good rhino sightings...the main reason of course to go.
Nevertheless we really enjoyed our two nights. There are only three bandas (cabins) and the largest was empty so staying there was a very intimate experience.
With the camp manager away, we were under the care of Martin, who was a real asset, providing top quality service and attending to all our needs.
He also led us on a nature walk and we truly enjoyed getting to know both the ecosystem and some of the Samburu culture.
All in all, a very positive experience." See all these reviews: 15n in Kenya

"Spectacular location and service!"

2 nights Arrived 26 Oct 2019
"A wonderful place with only three huts along a dry riverbed and a lovely pool. The staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. The camp manager, Sammy, was particularly kind and thoughtful.

The rhino trekking was good but it was not, as advertised, by telemetry. The batteries on the collars have all died! Instead rangers in the park try to figure out where the rhinos are each day and let the guide and tracker know.

We did see a rhino the first morning and the second afternoon Again, very hard to track in the thick green bush. This would be a much better experience in the dry season." See all these reviews: 7n in Kenya; 5n in Tanzania; 4n in Zanzibar

"Wonderful experience tracking black rhino"

2 nights Arrived 18 Oct 2019
"The rhino tracking was brilliantly organised - so much so that it felt surreal rather than scary to be just metres away from these amazing creatures on foot. We weren't the best at keeping still and silent - hard to walk without sound on crunchy earth - but nevertheless achieved two close encounters in the wild. Finding the rhino now relies entirely on the skills of the local wardens and guide as the radio tracking implants have reached the end of their three-year lifespan, which makes it an even more realistic and thrilling experience.

Sammy and team at the lodge were fantastic and unflappable. Best food of the trip. Became even more of an adventure when the usually dry riverbed in front of the bandas turned into a raging torrent after a serious and lengthy overnight downpour. We had to wait till lunchtime for the water to recede enough for us all to wade across to be met by a replacement land-rover for our onward journey as the camp vehicle could not cross."
