Reedbuck Safari: Day-by-day
More detailed information of what each day entails, and the various places you’ll stay on the Reedbuck Safari. Everything we do is completely tailor-made so while this is an idea which works well, we’ll always design an itinerary just for you.
Starts: Maun Airport
Maun to Zarafa by air & 4WD
On arrival in Maun you'll be guided to a light aircraft for a scenic flight of about 40 minutes over the Delta's waterways and woodlands. Keep an eye out for wildlife as you come in to land, and during the drive of about an hour from the airstrip to camp.
Zarafa Camp
Set within Botswana's private 1,350km² Selinda Reserve, the intimate Zarafa Camp (formerly called Zibadianja) was completely relocated and rebuilt in 2008. It now occupies a scenic setting atop an ancient, slightly raised earth bank, beside the lagoons and floodplains, which stem from the Zibadianja Lagoon. It is one of Botswana's most exclusive, most beautiful and most costly camps.

"Our guide, Name, was excellent."

Zarafa has succeeded in combining luxury and adventure in an exclusive yet informal setting. The camp is beautifully designed and well run, and goes the extra mile to cater for its guests' wishes. The new and even more exclusive Zarafa Dhow Suites are a good option for families or friends travelling together. If you're looking for indulgence, great game viewing, polished guiding and service, this is the place – albeit with a price tag to match. Though there's a good variety of wildlife here year round, the best time to visit is without doubt during the dry season, from June to October. See our full report on Zarafa Camp

Zarafa to Vumbura by light aircraft & 4WD
Leaving Zarafa mid-morning, you'll be driven to the airstrip for the 20-minute flight into the northern reaches of the Delta. Watch out for animal tracks - and animals - before coming in to land, where your guide will be waiting for the half-hour game drive to Vumbura Plains.
Vumbura Plains
As wildlife is drawn to the diverse Vumbura Reserve, so humans are drawn to the luxurious Vumbura Plains. To be precise, there are twins here – two near-identical safari lodges run semi-independently to give the discerning visitor a top-of-the-range experience.

Key to that experience are space, standards and service.
Vast, open-plan suites feature floor-to-ceiling glass panels that afford cinematic views across the floodplains. Watch from the huge canopied bed set up on its own platform; from the cushioned sofa; from the extensive deck complete with private plunge pool and shaded daybed.
In the sprawling heart of each lodge, the multi-level approach continues across wooden decks that open onto relaxing sunken lounges, and play host to beautifully laid tables for an excellent dinner under the stars.
Beautifully finished wood is balanced by softly toning fabrics to give a natural yet contemporary feel. And safari bonuses include 24-hour power for hairdryers, binoculars in each suite, a coffee machine that dispenses cappuccinos and lattes at will.
"an ideal location for animal viewing"

To lure you away, a team of guides is ready to showcase the animals and birds of this diverse reserve, with predator sightings unusually high. Whether you’re on land or on the water, you’ll be in the best company. See our full report on Vumbura Plains

After a final morning activity at Vumbura Plains, you'll be driven to the airstrip to board a light aircraft for the very short hop to Mombo, at the western end of Chief's Island. On arrival, your guide will be waiting with a 4WD for the 15-minute game drive to camp.

Mombo Camp overlooks a floodplain at the northwestern end of Chief's Island, deep within the Moremi Game Reserve. It is one of Botswana's flagship safari lodges with a reputation for excellent service, luxury accommodation and exceptional game densities, and a price tag to match.

Ask any experienced guide in northern Botswana about Mombo Camp and you're likely to see a glimmer in their eye and get a response along the lines of 'Wow! Mombo…' The high game densities alone justify visiting this area, and these, coupled with Mombo's high levels of hospitality, luxurious surroundings, great guiding and great food, make for a fantastic camp. We think Mombo is certainly very good and if you want the best of the best on all fronts in Botswana, then Mombo is the place to visit. See our full report on Mombo Camp
