"Memorable and exactly what we wanted"

I visited Botswana and 1 other country between 22 May 2015 and 31 May 2015
"Thank you Expert Africa. Logistically it was perfect with zero hiccups and we realise that there could've been many. You certainly get what you pay for and it was a trip of a lifetime.

The safaris, food, ambience and accommodation - all absolutely spot on and thank you so much for the help in organising everything for us. We will definitely be back in Africa over the next year or so, and when we plan it we'll be in contact. Thank you Chloe for being someone who knew the countries we were visiting inside out - so often you do the research yourself, then speak to someone at a company who then knows less than you do. This certainly wasn't the case here!

We have some fantastic wildlife (especially bird photos) from the holiday (taken with professional Canon lenses) so if you want any for the website/future Bradt travel guides please let us know.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

No, not at all. However, as Richard is a birdwatcher (and bordering on OCD keen) he did spot a mistake in the Bradt travel guide that you could pass on! The Spoonbill photograph is actually an African Spoonbill (Platalea alba) and not Spoonbill (Platalea leucorodia) as per the book!" Read full review: 9 nights in Africa; 5 on a Botswana safari

"Our May 2015 trip/Beautiful Africa"

I visited Botswana between 17 May 2015 and 26 May 2015
"The trip was wonderful. We clocked over 100 new bird species and all the animals we could imagine except rhino. Loved the night sounds--hippo and lions plus others!

We liked all 4 lodges very much. Best were Xigera and Vumbra Plain. Little Vumbra needs a bit of spiffing up. Sandibe was amazing...a bit wierd, but VERY comfy and attractive. Beds everywhere were wonderful.

The staff and the guides were terrific....always knowledgable and very pleasant. Food was excellent -- as was the wine. Perhaps too much food, too often.

Just for you to know, wifi at both Sandibe and Vumbra Plain...and hair dryers. Also outlets for re-charging at every single place.

There were too many high points to mention!

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

No. You are doing a great job, and we've recommended you (Tracy) and Expert Africa to several friends...even some who were with other safari groups.

Special thanks to Tracy for suggesting to the various camps that we have accomodation close to the center. My knees were very appreciative.

Wilderness planes were not as comfortable or clean as MacAir planes.

Can you send email of general manager of Vumbra Plains or Chris the food/beverage manager?" Read full review: 9 nights in Africa; 9 on a Botswana safari

"A truly amazing Safari"

I visited Botswana between 28 Feb 2015 and 9 Mar 2015
"This was one of the best holidays I have ever taken, I thank Chloe for the choice of the camps and the itinerary worked brilliantly. i really enjoyed visiting the different types of camp and seeing (if only briefly) the different areas of Botswana. I know I will be back.

Even though I gave some negative comments, I truly believe if Vumbura renews the furnishings and improves their maintenance it will be a Premium camp. The location and wildlife were some of the best on the trip, also the managers were really trying to do their best in a changing situation in the midst of construction.

I don't intend to let the attitude of the managers at the Savute Safari Lodge affect my enjoyment and memories of the time I spent there, I met some interesting and friendly guests at the lodge and saw great wildlife and the third guide OB was one of the better guides of the trip. Travelling as a single person has it's challenges and I know that, it was the unexpected contrast with how I had been treated at the other camps that made it such an unpleasant surprise.

All in all it was a great experience and I would repeat it tomorrow if I had the chance!" Read full review: 9 nights in Africa; 14 on a Botswana safari

"Wonderful experiences in the Okavango"

I visited Botswana between 31 Jan 2015 and 6 Feb 2015
"Loved our two different camps in the delta. 3 night in each camp in different parts of the delta worked well. Because of the flight transfer times you usually get a game drive after you arrive and also before you leave (6 over the 3 days). We were very happy to move to a different camp and see a different area after 3 nights.

The people of Botswana are delightful , so welcoming and friendly and genuinely proud of their country and what it has to offer .

We have loved our second trip to this country.

None at all . Will be booking another trip with you all again soon , hopefully ." Read full review: 6 nights in Africa; 6 on a Botswana safari

"Great time"

I visited Namibia and 1 other country between 6 Dec 2014 and 26 Dec 2014
"Trip was very good - near enough all went to plan. Roads(!) in Namibia often meant time taken to reach destinations was longer then expected. Apart from the issue with Budget car hire we also had an issue with the Wilderness transfer from Galton House to Windhoek airport. They were supposed to let us know (or if we had not arrived when they called then inform Galton House staff) the pick-up time for our Monday morning transfer. By early evening here had been no call I decide to call them - as it was Sunday there was only an answerphone message and out of hours number - which I rang and the chap apologised for not letting us know but confirmed pick-up time. Just a lapse but would have expected them to have called or how else would we have known?

Overall thought the choice and quality of food was disappointing - in some cases it may have been the lack of guests which prevented a buffet style choice but was often on offer was often restricted and poor quality - naturally game was included on most menus and the only alternative was 'vegetarian' which was mainly the same vegetables which were being used for the main course. Rice seemed to be the main starch available. There was also a lack of detailed information given on how the food was presented eg. broccoli was a main veg but it often came with a blue cheese on it and meat often had a sauce poured on it. Fortunately we made up for this with some excellent meals in Cape Town and the High Tea at the Cape Grace Hotel is highly recommended!

This was our first trip to Namibia which has some spectacular scenery and good game viewing but don't think we will be keen to return except perhaps to Etosha. We like to regard ourselves as fairly seasoned travellers but perhaps our expectations were too high - accommodation was generally good but food disappointing." I visited Botswana and 1 other country between 29 Sep 2014 and 13 Oct 2014
"The trip was fantastic; all that was expected and more. We thoroughly enjoyed how well everything flowed on this trip and how seemless it was.

All the arrangements were timed perfectly and everyone knew who we were and where we were expected to be. This made for such an enjoyable trip.

We would highly recommend Expert Africa to anyone who has not been to Africa before, or just needs some assistance in planning a trip." Read full review: 14 nights in Africa; 8 on a Botswana safari

"Okavango Season 9"

I visited Botswana between 21 Sep 2014 and 5 Oct 2014
"Our 9th trip to the Okavango and twelfth to Africa with Expert Africa. Many thousands of air miles and almost as many nights in safari lodges and never a foot wrong from this most excellent company. Thank you and for this trip a special thanks to Megan - again.

We had another wonderful holiday and our only concern was our stay at Tubu Tree. We knew it might no longer be to our liking but after two fantastic previous stays we simply had to try it again. Compared to the old small formula the new bigger camp does not really work for us.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

It is clear things are changing in the Okavango Delta.

Some examples are camps increasing the number of rooms, the distribution of general game and weed clogging channels and lagoons. There always were changes but recently they appear to be having more impact on the differences between camps and seasons. If the changes continue it will be more important than ever to bring them to the attention of clients when planning holidays." Read full review: 14 nights in Africa; 9 on a Botswana safari

"My Sep 2014 trip"

I visited Botswana and 2 other countries between 14 Sep 2014 and 26 Sep 2014
"Our trip was one of the best things we have ever done! It was perfect and we couldn't have asked for more. It was an excellent experience. The terrain is gorgeous, the animals are fantastic, people wonderful - a dream come true. What lucky people we are to experience that part of Africa.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

We were just amazed. Everyone was where they were to be when they were to be. Africa is a really special place and I thought we lived in a really special place. The trip was great and Maruska gave us the best advice. We met so many people staying at the camps for just two days complaining that they were always on the move. One really should stay for three. That was a great piece of advice.

I really cannot think of anything one could do better - it was like I said earlier - perfect. You all know what you're doing. So glad I got Chris's book on Botswana and found you. Thank you so, so much.

Last question - so now that one has been there how do you keep from returning again and again? I think Africa has hooks and keeps you coming back again and again." Read full review: 12 nights in Africa; 9 on a Botswana safari
