"Zambia November 2023 trip"
I appreciated all the calls and detailed advice from Amanda - so many useful tips about travel, money, the camps and tipping. I also welcomed the special wallet with a helpful guide to Zambia.
The Tours Africa Company who met us in Lusaka made a huge difference especially when they took us to the nearby hotel whilst we were awaiting our return flight from Lusaka. Thanks Amanda. It all worked like clockwork.
You are an Expert Company and I hope to travel with you again in the future. Zambia is a special country with beautiful people and stunning wildlife in South Luangwa Park.

Richard was able to confirm availability for 6 nights, but midweek to midweek, which seemed like a bit of a waste of annual leave, so with a bit of juggling, we got a 10 night (on safari, 12 nights including travel/airport) trip at a much more affordable price. It was a bit odd not booking a year in advance, but it shows what is possible.
It was certainly wetter than we anticipated, particularly in Laikipia. The rains in the Mara were a bit more what we expected, although it did rain non-stop overnight on several occasions. I now know why the camps provide Wellington boots and umbrellas! This made for a unique safari, but rain brings its' own set of photographic issues, that we had to learn about and fast.
All of the Kicheche safari camps are very well run and welcoming and this trip cemented in our minds how good Kenya is for safari, particularly with Kicheche." Read full review: 12 nights in Africa; 12 on a Kenya safari

The internal flights were also a breeze. I probably would have fewer flights next time and perhaps not go to either Amboseli or Laikipia, instead visiting the Kicheche camps in the Mara." Read full review: 14 nights in Africa; 12 on a Kenya safari

What we like with Expert Africa besides their vast knowledge is that they listen to their customers, spent the time to discuss our trip as long as we want and subsequently are suggesting what best suits us. Also appreciate very much that Expert Africa has been looking to find the best deal for us with the best value for money within our budget.
Asilia Africa was again top notch and such a great outfit making everything memorable. Jabali was incredible and unforgettable so was Roho ya Selous, different styles working so well together in a holiday.
Highlight for us were the wild dogs that we failed to see so many times on our previous holidays and the whale sharks & flying foxes in Mafia.
We loved Ruaha and Nyerere as less crowded, feeling even private, both parks a nice contrast though realize probably not for everyone as animals are not on display like in the Mara or Serengeti." Read full review: 12 nights in Africa; 14 on a Tanzania safari

Having been to Namibia before, and knowing roughly what we wanted to do, we set out to book the trip directly ourselves, but after discussion with Tom he came up with quite a number of options / lodges that we hadn't considered or been aware of.
After putting together a suggested itinerary it was clear that it was easier, and just as economic, to let Expert Africa organise all the accommodation. With map, guidebook and detailed intinerary and directions everything was made easy for travelling almost 4000km round Namibia over 3 1/2 weeks.
Overall a fantastic trip with great places to stay and visit.
Keep up the good knowledge of the country and its ever changing accommodation." Read full review: 25 nights in Africa; 23 on a Namibia trip

It was exactly what I was looking for.
The staff and guides had obviously been primed to know what I was interested in and were superb throughout.

I would like to add that Claire saved me from a minor catastrophe when she spotted that I had booked my own flights home for the wrong day, which meant that she could make additional arrangements." Read full review: 12 nights in Africa; 9 on a Tanzania safari

The places I stayed were well chosen and I enjoyed them all in different ways. I especially loved Fish River Lodge and the canyon there. I was lucky enough to meet the owners and to talk with them about their interesting plans to extend their conservation work in the area.
The only aspect of my journey that was different to what I expected and a bit more challenging was the driving. I did not have any problems, although I covered about 1,500 miles driving solo, but it is not easy driving on dirt roads (they are described as gravel roads but this is not really accurate). The car hire company and the Bradt guide recommend not driving above 70kph on dirt roads but that is not practicable over long distances and I think this advice should be revised. Nobody else was travelling at those speeds. If I had driven that slowly on certain days a 5-hour journey would have turned into an 8-hour journey, which presents a different kind of risk. I would recommend driving at the national speed limit, which is what I did, meaning that I was driving safely at 80-90 kph on those dirt roads. I think a frank discussion of what driving in Namibia realistically entails would have been useful, but this is a minor point!
Namibia is a beautiful country, for me part of its attraction is its remoteness and the opportunity to be alone in open spaces, but I also had encounters with Namibians of many different backgrounds, all of which were positive and interesting. I have brought home many happy memories and would love to return one day. Thank you, Tom, for making it happen." Read full review: 35 nights in Africa; 19 on a Namibia trip

The only problem was having a bat in our room while we were sleeping for 2 nights in Okakuajo and one night in Kalahari Red Dunes. But that isnt Expert Africa's fault!" Read full review: 13 nights in Africa; 13 on a Namibia trip
