Clevers Lakeview Resort: Our full report
Until recently Clevers Lakeview Resort (formerly Norma Jeane’s Lake View Resort) was the best option in the ...
... Great Zimbabwe Area. Since it was taken over the new management has changed things here and we are no longer recommending this property. Please speak to a member of the team for more information on visiting or staying at Great Zimbabwe. The details that follow refer to the former Norma Jeane's Resort. Norma Jeane’s (named after the owner, not the actress) is a converted farmhouse set amongst beautiful gardens with an elevated view across Lake Mutirikwe. The central colonial-style building of this converted farmhouse contains a cosy bar, restaurant, and the hotel’s rooms. We recommend one of Norma Jeane’s eight en-suite rooms, which are comfortable, albeit dated in their deco, with twin beds, a tea- and coffee-making station, a dressing table and an en-suite shower. Beautifully landscaped and planted gardens surround this building.
Our view
Although not modern or luxurious, we’ve always found the staff at this owner-run guesthouse to be friendly, the food good, and the rooms comfortable and clean. Norma Jeane’s is a good option for visitors who want to get off the beaten track, and are looking to enjoy a unique cultural experience at Great Zimbabwe.

- Norma Jeane's is just 7km from Great Zimbabwe, the ruined capital of the late iron-age Kingdom of Zimbabwe and the modern country’s namesake. While the lodge is quite simple this is a must-see destination for those seeking a deeper understanding of Zimbabwe's culture.
