Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge: video gallery

Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge: picture gallery

Chilo Gorge is set on a cliff over looking the Save River as it flows towards Mozambique
The Save forms Gonarezhou's northeastern boundary...
...and so the lodge sits looking across the water into the National Park
Most guests will arrive at Chilo via an air- or road-transfer from Harare
On arrival, you'll be met at the main area where your bags will be taken to your room...
...and there's a chance to admire the views while management introduce the lodge to you
You'll then be taken to your room...
...where the views continue
The rooms are well appointed with a mini-bar and tea and coffee station in each
There's a queen sized bed with mosquito net...
...and plenty of storage space including an electronic safe for added security
There's an en-suite bathroom at the rear of each chalet...
...with a shower...
...and a loo in a separate cubicle off to the side
The double-storey main area at Chilo is vast, with a number of lounge and seating areas
There's a curios shop selling local arts & crafts
Meals are usually served on the deck at the front of the lodge...
...although there is also an indoor dining room for those chillier winter nights
The camp fire is a focal point around which guests share the day's events over a drink...
...and the pool provides welcome relief from the midday heat
Activities at Chilo Gorge are varied and there's plenty to keep guests entertained
Game drives take place in the National Park, after a short drive and boat across the river
Chilo Gorge offers three-night fly-camping trips to visit the Chilojo Cliffs
The focus isn't just on scenery though, the game here is a little skittish but still plentiful
There are healthy populations of buffalo and elephant in particular
There's also the chance to visit the local village and school...
...and see the hard-work being done to educate local children in this rural community
A local arts & crafts centre is being built by Chilo to showcase local Shangaan culture...
...including fashion and art - we'll update these photos as soon as we can
