Zambia: reviews from our travellers
Unedited reviews written by our most recent Zambia travellers
"My June 2022 trip"
Old Mondoro small intimate bush camp. Puku ridge luxurious and Chiawa some where in between. Interesting the habitat from Old Mondoro and Chiawa is quite different even though only 40 kms down/ upstream.
Seeing both Leopards and Wild dogs make a kill was very special and a rare event on safari.

I would have packed a little differently than I did. Taking 2 pair of thermal underwear would have been useful, as our nights and morning game drives were quite cold. We also had banking issues along the way. Even though we had given our bank all of our travel information we still had issues at ATMs. We should have brought far more cash with us than we did.
The people, the environment, and the animals were incredible!! Africa is something everyone should experience if they can.
We will go back!!!!!

The only problems with this holiday was getting to and from Zambia, which we arranged ourselves, we will rethink this for next time and try to find an easier way to do it." Read full review: 12 nights in Africa; 10 on a Zambia safari

I prefer a hotter climate and feel that the animal sightings are easier in early September.

Zambia is an amazing destination for a safari (I tell everyone who will listen) - the range and volume of animals/birds, the expert knowledge and skills of the guides.

"My May 2022 trip"
Everything was great from there on out, except until the very end when two persons in my traveling party tested positive for COVID at Splash Camp, Botswana. There were a lot of details that needed help and attention for these two persons when they were told they had to stay in Botswana an extra five days, at a camp with zero internet availability. The camp does have a satellite phone for emergencies. They reached out to Expert Africa to request help in making alternative travel arrangements and important notifications to people at home and received zero assistance.
This lack of helpful response did not set well with us as a group of five travelers having spent a combined (approximate) $50k between us on this once in a lifetime type of travel experience. So the beginning and end of the trip were not the most shining examples of Expert Africa’s service. But the majority of our trip was great. So take that information any way you wish. Just sharing our true experiences." Read full review: 19 nights in Africa; 7 on a Zambia safari
"Long awaited return to Botswana, Zambia and Malawi"
Only place I was not that happy with was Latitude 13 but not sure what other options there were to get a PCR test done even though we did not need it in the end." Read full review: 11 nights in Africa; 7 on a Malawi trip

"Week at Nkwali"
The mix of guests is always very interesting too, with more local residents or people visiting residents or adding on safari days to a business trip.
Although I have managed some trips during covid, Nkwali was quite busy during my stay, and this is the first time I've really felt like some sort of normality is returning to the safari world. With testing now dropped for most destinations, there was a sense of relief and optimism from staff and other guests alike.
Pioneer was the only low point of the trip, and I think perhaps it's time Expert Africa looked at some new options for overnights in Lusaka for guests who don't need a luxury boutique hotel." Read full review: 10 nights in Africa; 8 on a Zambia safari
