"Wonderful stay. The location was great and we saw loads of cats and hyena. All the staff worked hard to make our stay as enjoyable as possible, even arranging for us to see a cheetah having its teeth cleaned.

I think we were in the honeymoon suite! - a lovely room with a deck, an indoor seating area, an enormous bed, a bath, an indoor shower and an outdoor shower"

"An adequate place to stop overnight, but we were rather put off by the attitude of the manager who clearly sees visitors as a licence to print money. One example was the extortionate price of bottled water in a place where you were advised not to drink the tap water. The barman also boasted in Afrkaans to local visitors that he'd managed to sell the foreigners the most expensive beer in the bar.

When we arrived for dinner, they had clearly forgotten about us and taken a booking from a large party at the nearby campsite. Eventually they had to lay a table for us in the bar.

"Our experience may have been affected by visiting this place when substitute managers who clearly had limited knowledge of Susuwe were in charge, and when the chef was on holiday and, judging by the quality of the food, had left the kitchen maid in charge of the kitchen.

We were surprised to be presented with a drinks bill at the end of our visit, and they should perhaps clarify what they mean by 'all drinks included' as they clearly aren't.

Game drives and guiding were very good, and the arrival at Susuwe by boat is lovely."

"Wonderful place with fantastic game viewing and excellent guides who gave us some of our most memorable game drives ever. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was splendid, and the company really enjoyable.

I had my birthday while I was there and they made me a birthday cake and sang!"

"Friendly, welcoming place with a good atmosphere. The food was excellent, and we had a very enjoyable sunset cruise.

Very cold - we needed every one of our mountain of blankets in the night."

"Very comfortable, welcoming place in an excellent location on the edge of Etosha. The accommodation must have been upgraded since the Bradt Guide Book description was written, and it exceeded our expectations. Very good food.

"An old friend which has had a major facelift since our last visit in 2006. The cabins are very nice, but we regretted the removal of the kitchens. The best feature here is of course the waterhole, and one of our nicest memories of this trip is of sitting by the waterhole with a glass of wine as the sun set watching elephant, rhino and giraffe.

The dining room and the food are fine with good service.

"Didn't see much game here, but enjoyed the guided morning walk. Very friendly relaxed atmosphere, good food, and very comfortable lodge.

Electricity was provided by a generator which went off quite early in the evening, and could perhaps be left on a bit longer."

"Absolutely met my criteria of sea view and balcony as our room had great views both from the bedroom and the bath.

The building was designed and built to very high standards, but is let down by poor management and maintenance - various bathroom fittings were loose or missing (and nothing was done when we reported that the shower didn't work), and it would be generous to describe the hot water as lukewarm.

The hotel restaurant served great food, both at breakfast and dinner."
