We would not hesitate to recommend Expert Africa to freinds, and would wholeheatedly recommend any of the places we stayed at: Gran Melia in Arusha, Lemala Nanyukie, The Highlands and Zuri Zanzibar"

Lemala Nanyukie
"Lemala Nanyukie review"
All of the staff were outstanding and committed to giving you a really great experience - right through from the masai warriors who escort you to and from your room to the staff in the restaurant and bar.
A special mention for Joshua our game drive guide who was incredibly knowledgeable, relaxed, totally flexible and really friendly - he was superb (even met me at Arusha airport on his week end off to return my camera that I had left in his truck!)"
The Highlands
"The Highlands review"
The food is superb and service attentive (maybe even a little too attentive at times) - the staff are excellent and very committed to providing an excellent experience. They seemed very concerned at it being cold at night - but it isn't really cold to Northern Europeans!
We did have a slightly strange experience when we first arrived when there seemed to be much confusion over whether we were doing any activities (ie going to Ngorongoro or hiking) - the Expert Africa team were fantastic in sorting that out for us, and I think it was a miscommunication between the Asilia office and the camp in the end. But I'm not sure why the camp made such a big thing of it to us when we first arrived...
One slightly nagging doubt about the approach is that Asilia feels like it might be a little "corporate" - things seemed less relaxed and natural, and perhaps "staged" and "forced" sometimes. Lemala Nanyukie was much more laid back and natural.
Hiking Olmoti and Empakai craters are a must while at The Highlands - and they are not difficult if you have a reasonable level of fitness. A special mention to Lozaro our guide and to Janet who were both superb"
Safari in Ngorongoro Crater
"Safari in Ngorongoro Crater review"
16 Nov 2024 • All-day excursion
The wildlife is abundant and relatively easy to find.
Our guide Lazaro was excellent, and very flexible in understanding our interests and taking the time to explore them
Olmoti Crater walk

17 Nov 2024 • All-day excursion
All sorts of flora and fauna to spot and discuss with your guide - a must if you are visiting The Highlands (Lembris the masai hiking guide from The Highlands is great)
Empakaai Crater Hike
"Empakaai Crater Hike review"
17 Nov 2024 • All-day excursion
The hike down through the forest is really interesting with plenty of flora, fauna and wildlife to spot and discuss - and emerging through the trees onto the crater floor is an experience not to be forgotten.
It was brilliant to see the wildlife on the crater floor alongside the masai cattle herds being walked around the lake by the masai farmers.
The hike back up to the crater rim is harder work than the descent, but not too difficult if you take your time - pole pole!
Zuri Zanzibar
"Zuri Zanzibar review"
It was the perfect way to cap off an incredible trip, giving us a few days of downtime alongside the pristine beach and turqoise Indian Ocean"
Amazing views of Mount Meru, especially from the Rooftop - which is a really good bar and restaurant. Lovely pool terrace and gardens - they even serve coffee which has been grown in the hotel garden.
The grill restaurant is also excellent. About 55 mins drive from Kilimanjaro Airport and 15 minutes from Arusha airport"
