My Sep 2024 trip
Kenya between 20 Sep 2024 and 4 Oct 2024
"Fantastic, delivered above what I was expecting!
When booking, I asked for quiet camps where we would not be overrun by other people when game viewing and this is what we got.
We stayed at 2 Kicheche camps, the first at Laikipia and then at Mara North.
Both camps had wonderful game viewing which was slightly different and excellent guides. For our first safari we saw much more than we ever hoped for, lion kills, lions with cubs, hyena stealing part of a lion kill, a cheetah kill, leopards mating, elephants wallowing in a mud bath and the last 2 Northern White Rhinos. These were the highlights but we also saw so much more.
We ended our stay by relaxing at Kinondo Kwetu which had a golden sand beach, lovely large swimming pool and excellent fish suppers."

"Excellent camp with tents that were secluded and well appointed. The food was delicious and we were well looked after by the camp staff.
The atmosphere was laid back and informal which worked well in a small camp. We enjoyed pre dinner drinks around a camp fire every night and the fireplace in the dinner tent gave it a cosy feel.
Our guide Albert was excellent, he was knowledgeable, listened to what we wanted and was able to deliver on our requests over the time we were with him. We managed to see the big five and a cheetah here.
We had a wonderful time at this camp!"

"Another excellent kicheche camp, the tents were spread out along the river, ours was private, comfortable and had a superb shower.
The camp staff were friendly, they looked after us well and all of the food was high quality and delicious. This was a more formal camp than the previous camp we stayed at, with the management being less visable.
Our guide Dixon was excellent, extremely knowledge of both mammels and birds and knew how to position the vehicle to us to view the behaviour of the wildlife. We managed to see a cheetah take down a thompson gazelle, he also spotted lions hunting a baby giraffe for us and we saw leopards mating. We saw the big 5 for this area (they don't have rhino), we were extremely lucky with our sightings and we didn't think each day would be better than the previous day but some how it was.
We had an experience of a lifetime here, it was fabulous!"

"We came here to relax after 8 nights on safari and this was a perfect place for that.
Our cottage was rustic with a comfortable bed and a good shower but the lighting was dark in the main bedroom. We were well looked after by all the staff, the food was excellent with lots of fish courses which were all delicious. We also enjoyed the pre dinner cocktails and liked that we sitted at a different table each night where we enjoyed Kenyan White Wine with our dinner.
We took advantage of the beach shoes and snorkeling equipment provided, while this wasn't outstanding we did see starfish, sea urchins, octopus and lots of different fish. The main pool was a balmy 36 degrees but beware of the monkeys especially if you have a drink by the pool!
It was a lovely end to our stay in Kenya."
