Unforgettable July 2024 trip
Namibia and 3 other countries between 21 Jun 2024 and 24 Jul 2024
Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:
Converting NZD to USD to pay for the trip was daunting - felt hugely expensive. Yes, we requested and planned a high end experience and were aware of the costs, but we definitely felt a big hit to the wallet. When you factor in that we were also giving healthy tips (as suggested, and we felt like with the great service we should do at least the "minimum") on top of the high room rate at each camp ... we felt it even more. Next time we might consider a mix of high vs medium range camps to save some money. Again, not to take away from an incredible trip planned together with Maruska ... thanks"

We felt a tad disappointed by the staff around mealtimes. Staff seemed to be a bit confused or reluctant when we ordered drinks and food. Almost like they were in training ... not fully confident with the guests and the menus. All were lovely and helpful, but it just felt like they weren't up to speed on their services."

Johannes, our guide, was knowledgeable and fun and made the best G&Ts at our Sundowners! And he laughed at all our bad jokes ... thank you Johannes!"

Our guide George and tracker Mike were knowledgeable, engaging, and great fun.
Our rooms were exceedingly comfortable - so large and luxurious. Thankful for the fans which kept us cool. The seating area was particularly nice with a big comfy couch and chair, desk and coffee table - very well set up and a nice place to lounge during our afternoons back at camp between drives. Loved the addition of an outdoor shower. Exceptional accommodation overall!
The food was excellent and varied. Staff knowledgeable and engaging. A special memory was lunch in the bush - a great surprise after one of our morning drives.
Highlight was our sunset cruise on the delta. The sun setting over the delta is a site we will never forget. Thankful for the advice to wear our buffs on the way home to protect us from the nighttime insects ... a lifesaver."

San Camp
"San Camp review"
Our tents were lovely, but one addition would be helpful - a comfy couch or couple of big comfy chairs. Other than the bed, there wasn't really a comfy place to sit. The throne toilets were not my favourite - would have preferred regular toilets. I get that the thrones were in keeping with the theme, but still I would've preferred a normal toilet. Beautiful big bathroom otherwise.
The pool area was amazing. Loved spending our afternoons out near the pool - watching animals cross the salt pans in front of us. The tent provided great shade in the heat of the afternoon. A treat!
The ATV sundown ride was the highlight of our trip. Such a special evening for so many reasons. Unforgettable.
The meerkats ..... unbelievable!!! Our visit with the Bush People ... so informative and interesting. We loved San Camp!"

Somalisa Camp
"Somalisa Camp review"
Uncle Richard greeted us to camp as if we were returning guests and great friends. He and his entire team made us feel welcomed and cherished for our entire stay. Our rooms were generous in size, and very comfortable. This camp provided guests with walkie talkies in case of emergency. This was the only camp that did this and it gave a great sense of security. If possible, all camps should have these ... it was a comfort to have someone "on call" if we needed help for anything. Fireplace lit for us at bedtime was an extra special touch.
The main areas, lounge, pool, decks were wonderful. Backgammon and jenga available in the lounge was a nice touch. Lots of books around to read. Felt very homely. Sitting on the deck watching the elephants and antelope drink from the watering hole and the small "pool" deck side will be a special memory always.
Attention to detail by staff, particularly at mealtimes, was excellent. Noting that one of us didn't like raw onions in our salad and the next day salad arrived minus the onions. Nothing said, but noted by staff and acted on ... great service. Noe seemed to be tuned in to everything we might need! Thank you Noe!
Two special meal memories ... make your own pizza - cooked to order in the wood burner oven. And, best of all, build your own stir fry cooked over the fire. Amazing! Great menu varieties at Somalisa."
