Karen Blixen Cottages responded to this feedback by sending their sincere apologies to these guests. While they were very happy to hear that the staff had been helpful and that access for the guest in a wheelchair was adequate or better, they were very sorry these guests had their sleep interrupted by lights from some of the fittings in their room. They told Expert Africa they would be taking steps to review that problem. They also took on board the comments about a below-par food service in general and the fact that these guests felt that services were overpriced. At Expert Africa, our view is that Karen Blixen Coffee Gardens and Cottages offers reasonably good value for money – though not if if the items ordered in the bar or restaurant are not served, or not served correctly.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Laikipia. The staff were extremely helpful and kind. Accessibility was as good as it could be given the location.
The food was good, plenty for us but a bit short for hungry young men particularly in the meat department!
Game drives were good.
Whilst the weather did impact things we feel that extra activities e.g. game walks etc could have been more forthcoming."

Very impressive concentrations of wildlife.
At times a little busy on sightings with a number of vehicles around big game. However, this was to be expected with it being a national park.

The staff were very helpful and kind.
From an access perspective KBCG&C was pretty good. There was a lot of noise disturbance at night exacerbated by numerous electrical devices which had flashing/bright lights (e.g. in room telephone and wifi box).
The food was ok but not great and orders were often mixed up or incorrect.
Overall we felt KBCG&C was significantly overpriced!"
