My Sep 2023 trip
Tanzania and 1 other country between 16 Sep 2023 and 1 Oct 2023
"This was our first safari and we wanted to use an experienced company to arrange things for us. After a lot of research we chose Expert Africa and were glad that we did. Jessica listened to everything we asked for and planned the perfect trip. When we did have a small issue with a hotel transfer in Zanzibar, she quickly fixed it for us and kept us informed throughout.
All the accommodation and staff at Asilia Africa were exceptional, we could not have asked for anything better. The guides were all extremely knowledgeable and really cared that we had the best safari experience possible. The rooms were beautiful and so luxurious. The food was delicious and plentiful (perhaps bordering on too plentiful!).
Our time at Kilindi was very relaxing and just what we needed after a busy 10 days on safari."

Oliver's Camp
"Oliver's Camp review"
3 nights
Arrived
18 Sep 2023
"We stayed for 3 nights at Oliver’s Camp as part of our 2 week safari holiday. I cannot express how fantastic this place and all the staff are. From the moment we were greeted by our guide Augustino from the plane, to the moment we said goodbye to him, we were made to feel like we were part of the Oliver’s family.
Augustino was an amazing guide, he really listened to what we were interested in and stopped for any animal, no matter how small. He understood that we were excited to see every zebra, no matter how many we had already seen! We got the chance to go on a night drive and with the help of Michael as a spotter they made it a magical experience that we will never forget.
The “tent” (it’s difficult to call something with a huge bed and 2 showers a tent!) was beautiful and spotless (how do that manage that in a tent in the middle of the bush??). The food was always delicious and you will never go hungry. The service was so friendly and everyone always seemed to know our names. Salum our waiter was brilliant.
The atmosphere at the camp was wonderful. When you get back you sit around a campfire and exchange stories from your day. All the managers were so friendly and fantastic company.
We were so sad when we had to leave and I can’t wait until I have the chance to visit again"

The Highlands
"The Highlands review"
2 nights
Arrived
21 Sep 2023
"We stayed for 2 nights at The Highlands as part of our 2 week safari holiday. We were collected from a different Asilia camp and driven over to Ngorogoro by our guide Godlisten. He was a fantastic guide and extremely informative throughout our few days with him.
The drive up to The Highlands is long and bumpy, but as long as you know to expect that it’s not a problem, and the amazing views at the top more than make up for any bumps. We actually found it good fun, and it was really interesting going past the Masai villages, and navigating through people out with their cows and sheep.
The accommodation at The Highlands was beautiful. It was so different from the other camps we stayed at during our trip. We were greeted on arrival with drinks and snacks while everything was explained to us. Our room attendant Jeseka kept the room looking perfect and made sure the fire was lit and everything was cosy in the evening.
The bar is a great place to meet other guests and hear about their experiences. The option to eat together is brilliant idea, and although we did choose to have a quiet meal alone on the first night after the long drive, eating with the other guests on the next night was great fun.
The food was delicious and we were kept entertained by our waiter Eugine, who helped my husband with his Swahili."

Safari in Ngorongoro Crater
"Safari in Ngorongoro Crater review"
22 Sep 2023 • All-day excursion
Our day in the crater was amazing and Godlisten worked really hard to ensure we saw as much as possible - especially when the report of a rhino sighting came over the radio.
It was a lot busier than all the other areas we visited during our time in Tanzania and we were quite often watching animals alongside 10 other vehicles. However despite this we were really glad we decided to visit Ngorongoro as it was so different from the other places and was one of the most beautiful places in the world.

"We stayed for 3 nights at Dunia Camp as part of our 2 week safari holiday and I can’t express enough what a wonderful time we had.
We were collected from our short flight by our guide Neema. She was enthusiastic and informative right from the start. She has an amazing passion for her job and this really showed in everything she did.
This was the third stop on our safari, so we had already seen a lot. Neema went out of her way to find us something different, whether that was tracking a lion and lioness to waiting for a rhino to appear out of a bush. When we did encounter a rhino (and it was an amazing encounter!) Neema seemed just as excited and joyous as we were.
The camp is fantastic and the staff were so so lovely."

All the staff were very friendly, especially Lillien, our room ambassador during our stay. The room was beautiful and the housekeeping did an amazing job.
The food was delicious, especially the Zanzibar fish soup we had for lunch."

Princess Salme Spice Tour
"Princess Salme Spice Tour review"
28 Sep 2023 • All-day excursion
This was an extremely informative tour and we very much enjoyed it.
We enjoyed the coffee making experience and found the spice farm really interesting.
We were a little bemused to be conveyed to lunch on a donkey cart whilst wearing crowns, which seemed to amuse the people in the local village enormously, but this has made a great story now we're home!

Swahili Cooking Workshop
"Swahili Cooking Workshop review"
29 Sep 2023 • All-day excursion
We really enjoyed our cooking workshop. The visit to the market to buy ingredients was very interesting, but I felt our guide could have explained more about what we were buying and given a little more context.
The actual cooking workshop was really fun and interesting, and the food was delicious.
It is worth knowing that you need to sit on the ground to experience it fully (something that was fine for us) and that may not be suitable for everyone.

Excellent
Our flight arrived early in the morning and our room was not ready (which we were told would be the case). There was no area to wait other than the reception benches or the restaurant or bar area. This made the wait a little uncomfortable as we were too tired to explore the grounds much. If we were to visit again we would ensure to arrive later in the day. That being said, the staff did everything they could to prepare our room as early as possible.
All members of staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious and comfortable. The food was very good. The grounds are very pretty and we enjoyed exploring (after we had had a little sleep) trying to spot monkeys in the trees."
