My Aug 2022 trip
Tanzania and 1 other country between 29 Aug 2022 and 13 Sep 2022
"The trip was fantastic- Expert Africa made it effortless for us! Jessica Plumb (contact at Expert Africa) was very knowledgeable and tailored the trip to our interests/budget. She was very responsive, answering all our questions and providing us with a detailed itinerary.
The safari lodges and accommodation were true to the description given by Expert Africa, and were consistently of high quality.
It was great to be able to enjoy the trip without having to think about internal flights and airport transfers, all of which was taken care of by Expert Africa.
Overall we had an incredible experience on our honeymoon and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Expert Africa!"

"Sean and Millie were very welcoming hosts. They prepared a surprise honeymoon dinner for us on our final night, which was a really lovely touch!
We loved the set up and the feeling of being among nature/the animals. Rustic, basic with comforts, which suited us very well.
Food was excellent and well-catered for as vegetarians/pescetarians.
Guide & driver for safari drives- both friendly and knowledgeable. Would have been helpful to know in advance so that we were prepared for tipping both guide & driver."

Ikuka Safari Camp

"Ikuka was unbelievably luxurious and a beautiful lodge. Couldn't fault. Stunning location with incredible views from private tent. Hosts Shevie, Tom and Mark were very attentive and welcoming.
Mark was an excellent guide for our walking safari- took the time to explain about insects, tracks and animals. Very knowledgeable and interesting.
We felt that the hosts had really thought about the guest experience and making sure we were comfortable throughout. Went the extra mile with 'romantic' gestures- two special private dinners, bottle of fizz etc.
Itinerary was well thought out with early starts and time in the pm to relax before evening drive. Breakfast and sundowners in the bush were a really nice touch!
Food was fantastic- beautiful presentation, great flavours, well-accommodated for as vegetarians and plentiful.
Not a criticism as such, but sometimes we felt a little overwhelmed by the degree of attentiveness and intensity of the hosts, e.g. group greeting and questions after each game drive sometimes felt a bit unnecessary after a long day."

Zanzi Resort
"Zanzi Resort review"

"Zanzi was lovely. I think we were spoiled a bit at Ikuka, which might have coloured our experience.
The staff were very attentive and it was nice to have the option of meals and drinks in our villa, on the beach etc. The views and scenery/decor were lovely and we really enjoyed having our own private garden and pool.
Overall the food was very good- lots of choice for breakfast and lunch. Tasty evening meal options, lovely presentation. Food provided on the boat trip was slightly disappointing- cold toasted sandwiches and samosas several of which contained meat (not great for vegetarians!) Although we knew that there wasn't a beach, I think in hindsight this mattered more to us that we thought it was.
The jetty was picturesque but not that practical to swim from- e.g. ladder slippery and painful barnacles.
Staff very friendly and keen to please, but communication was sometimes difficult- e.g. boat trip. Miscommunication about what we would be able to see- sandbank submerged, no towels provided despite being told they were on the boat. Happy hour on the jetty was a nice idea, but no clarity about what was included, timings or cost.
Day trip to spice farm and Stone Town was good. Guide very knowledgable and friendly.
Massages as part of honeymoon package were great. Nice setting looking out over the ocean.
The honeymoon private dinner was a really lovely! They set up a beautiful table and decorations for us on the beach- it was a very special evening.
Resort manager was friendly and allowed us to have a late check-out on our final day and arranged our airport transfer, which went very smoothly."
