June 2023 honeymoon
Namibia between 26 Jun 2023 and 9 Jul 2023
The pack that Expert Africa sent us was great - the map and itinerary with directions was all we needed to easily navigate our way around. We really wouldn't have any faults at all (if you pushed us then maybe a more robust car would be beneficial. We had 1 flat tyre which is not unusual on those roads but we did struggle with some of the long and bumpy driveways to the lodges).
It's impossible to choose favourites but Zannier Sonop, Sossusvlei Desert Lodge and Onduli Ridge were our favourite stays. The staff were always so welcoming and looked after us very well. And they were all set in the most beautiful scenery. It really takes your breath away.
We will not forget this trip in a heartbeat and hope very much to replicate again or something similar in the not so distant future.
Thank you Tom for helping us plan such a memorable honeymoon - what a great start to married life!"

Sonop
"Sonop review"
The staff go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. Food was delicious. We kept the staff on their toes with horse riding, biking and hikes.
The atmosphere here is very special and memorable and we very much hope to come back. We had 2 nights here which was perfect, although we certainly could have stayed for 3.
Not so many wild animals in this area but you can happily spend all day enjoying the views and the many activities on offer. Almost like going back in time."

Sossusvlei Desert Lodge

We enjoyed a day trip to the sand dunes, hiking up the Big Mamma dune and walking to dead vlei. We booked a hot air balloon, which was just 15 mins drive early in the morning although sadly the weather did not permit the fly.
We also enjoyed a hike to a cave with some old cave paintings a short walk from the hotel. We had 2 nights here although wished we could have stayed for 3.
The rooms are so luxurious, we would be happy to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet and the beautiful views.
There is a watering hole beneath the hotel which attracts lots of oryx and zebra."

The Delight
"The Delight review"
Swakopmund is a good base to explore the coastline and enjoy some of the activities there. We went quadbiking on the dunes which we would recommend.
The Delight is a nice hotel.
We weren't there long, and although a larger hotel the staff were friendly and helpful."

Onduli Ridge
"Onduli Ridge review"
This was hands down my husbands favourite hotel of our stay. There are only 6 rooms so it's very quiet and at times you feel like you have the whole place to yourself.
The service was impeccable. The staff are so friendly and attentive, nothing is too much trouble. We enjoyed sleeping out under the stars and the pizza night and sitting by the fire. Very personal and homely.
We loved the elephant tracking, one of the highlights of our trip.
And the sunsets here are unbeatable! A really memorable stay."

Ongava Lodge
"Ongava Lodge review"
Compared to other hotels, the service wasn't quite so good - we weren't given an option to have a guide take us to Etosha, perhaps a lack of staff that day.
The rooms are also quite tired and in need of a refresh and cleanliness could have been better (a little dusty and a stained towel).
Overall a good experience but some updates to the rooms would be a good idea."

Weinberg Hotel
"Weinberg Hotel review"
In hindsight we should have stayed at Omaanda just outside of Windhoek because we didn't need more time in the capital. But the hotel is a lovely base to start or finish the trip.
There is a nice sheltered courtyard where we enjoyed tea and reading books.
Spa was a little disappointing as it's just a non heated pool and a steam room - probably not worth the fee to use it."
The spa was a little limited and overpriced, with an unheated pool (which is extremely cold) and a steam room. And the fish market food was quite average.
But a good base to explore Windhoek."
